This B&B is hosted by the nice and friendly couple Christophe and Adriana and Christophe is a great French chef. On our first night, we have an excellent French dinner cooked by Christophe, very plentiful and delicious! Every morning, we had breakfast on the verandah with a beautiful, calm and relaxing scenery next to a river. The presentation of the breakfast was one of the best we have seen with attention to detail, everything prepared with fresh ingredients.
The room is well kept with a charm to it in its decor of the bed linens. This B&B is a little away from the historic town, but if you have a car, you won't have a problem getting there to the main drag.
One must take the schoona or private boat tours in Parati to fully enjoy the beatufiul scenary of Parati. We got to the pier late and the schooonas had already left for the day (11:00am), maybe because it was low season and there was only one tour per day. However, this turned out to be the best for us as we ended up negotiating a great deal and hiring a private boat for 4-5 hours and the cost was very reasonable. I highly recommend doing the private boat as you can choose where to go and how long you want to stay at one place, as the boat stops at certain beaches. We hired the guy Domingo with the pink boat, there is no way of not spotting his boat! He was a character with his slippers and swimming trunks matching the boat colors... good guy, just don't know if he speaks any English, as I speak Portuguese. I highly recommend stopping at the miniscule Ilha do Catimbau and eating at the restaurant. It's expensive, but worth the view, the peaceful setting and the ceviche was very fresh.
We have great memories of Parati, only regret is that the trip was too short and would love to explore more if we ever go back.
