“Nice B&B with great hosts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2010

This B&B is hosted by the nice and friendly couple Christophe and Adriana and Christophe is a great French chef. On our first night, we have an excellent French dinner cooked by Christophe, very plentiful and delicious! Every morning, we had breakfast on the verandah with a beautiful, calm and relaxing scenery next to a river. The presentation of the breakfast was one of the best we have seen with attention to detail, everything prepared with fresh ingredients.

The room is well kept with a charm to it in its decor of the bed linens. This B&B is a little away from the historic town, but if you have a car, you won't have a problem getting there to the main drag.

One must take the schoona or private boat tours in Parati to fully enjoy the beatufiul scenary of Parati. We got to the pier late and the schooonas had already left for the day (11:00am), maybe because it was low season and there was only one tour per day. However, this turned out to be the best for us as we ended up negotiating a great deal and hiring a private boat for 4-5 hours and the cost was very reasonable. I highly recommend doing the private boat as you can choose where to go and how long you want to stay at one place, as the boat stops at certain beaches. We hired the guy Domingo with the pink boat, there is no way of not spotting his boat! He was a character with his slippers and swimming trunks matching the boat colors... good guy, just don't know if he speaks any English, as I speak Portuguese. I highly recommend stopping at the miniscule Ilha do Catimbau and eating at the restaurant. It's expensive, but worth the view, the peaceful setting and the ceviche was very fresh.

We have great memories of Parati, only regret is that the trip was too short and would love to explore more if we ever go back.

“How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2010

The couple that runs this pousada are two wonderful human beings. I cannot recommend them any more highly. Unfortunately, while we were staying with them my companion fell and broke his hip (we didn't realize it at the time). When bad things happen, you find out what people are really like and we experienced the kindness of the Brazilian people firsthand. Owners Adriana and Christophe, in particular, were ACTIVELY HELPFUL. She went and picked up a prescription. She sent emails and made phone calls to our next two hotels because we didn't know what was going to happen. She advised me about the best way to deal with TAM airlines and the flight we missed and the flight we had to purchase. She took me to a pharmacy that sold crutches and advised me to buy them when I didn't have a clue what was going on (the orthopedist said "no break") and it was the best thing I did. Christophe cooked us meals when his kitchen would have normally been closed. He picked up my friend and carried him in to his room when we arrived by taxi from the local hospital. These two people were my friends when I needed a friend. It was a sad experience that my friend was hurt, but a wonderful experience at the same time because of the owners of this pousada.

The pousada is not located in the heart of Paraty, but it is also near a very cool place called Murycana and some great trails. There is bus/van service into town and Adriana drove us too.

“Great option away, but still close, from the historic center”

A very charming hotel, away from the city, but close to the historic center - no more than 5 minutes by car. The room is simple, but very well decorated and comfortable. The bistrot Voila has a delicious french food and good wine (they offered a dinner one night and it is worth it). The breakfast was excelent - in a varanda with a beaultiful view to a river! We had a great stay and recommend it.

This was a great three-day stay. The welcome dinner and the breakfasts were outstanding. The owners extremely friendly - they picked us up at the bus station and brought us into town every morning. it exceeded our expectations.

“Beautiful pousada, nice location, excellent French bistro and friendly owners.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2010

We stayed here during our Christmas holidays for three days and enjoyed it very much. SInce Paraty is very crowded this time of year we were lucky to book a room out here. The pousada is located near the river set among lush rainforest. The terrace and French bistro are overlooking the river and the beautiful garden. The rooms are situated around this garden and all have their own patio. We had a great diner at New year's eve, including champagne and foie gras and everything very well prepared by the French chef. This also counts for the delicious breakfast. Both owners are very helpful and know a lot about the region. If we ever go back to Paraty we would definitely book here again!
