We stayed at this pousada for 2 nights at the end of July 2007. The place was under renovation, as they are transforming it into more of a "spa" but nevertheless it is a great place to stay. The owner speaks Portuguese, German and also speaks English very well. There is a young woman who works there with the owner and his wife - Maria, I think is her name - who speaks excellent amazing English although she's never been out of Brasil - she was fun to talk to.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and can recommend beaches, buggy rentals, etc. The little downtown of shops and restaurants etc is a very short walk away (a block maybe?) - with the beach on the other side viewed thru the walkways between shops. The pousada is near where the bus lets you off - so coming from Rio or elsewhere you can almost just walk across the street. The beaches are all within easy driving distance in those bugres (dune buggies) - we didn't "do" the beaches but did take a boat tour (arranged by the hotel) to see them all and they looked great!
The room was large - spartan by western standards but the bed was comfortable and the room was quiet.
Our room was paid for by friends so I don't know how the price is. The food that was put out for each meal...We stayed at this pousada for 2 nights at the end of July 2007.
