“The best place to be in Buzios”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

My bestfriend and I stumbled upon this pousada gem by accident after being put in a horrible, dirty and rude hotel recommended by our travel agent. We checked out first thing the next morning and because most of the hotels in town were booked that weekend (film festival), we walked door to door, and made a few phone calls. We got to Pousada da Azeda, after speaking with the receptionist who told us he had a room available for us. In the time it took us to get to the pousada by taxi, that room was taken up by someone who walked up before us and booked the room. We were very disappointed initially, but the receptionist immediately made amends to reserve a room for us at their sister hotel across the street which was not as luxurious but clean. They also offered to upgrade our room their to a two-full beds. They cleaned the room out for us immediately, and let us leave our luggage there while we spent the afternoon at the beach right off the path to the pousada da Azeda. The next night they moved us to their own boutique hotel room, the room was spacious, clean, with an ocean view and our own private hammock on the balcony. We felt that the staff really went out of their way to accommodate us. The manager and staff there all spoke English, and they were very helpful in recommending where to go for dinner. The hotel is located about 3 miles away from downtown, which we didn't mind the 30 min walk during cool summer nights by the shore. The best part of the hotel is its rooms and design, and also location which is right on the hill. Most locals walk up the hill, past the pousada down a dirt trail to one of the most secluded and beautiful beaches in Buzios--Playa Azeda. The pousada also offered their beach umbrella and chairs free of charge. For the active travelers, there's a nice gym with clean equipments with a panoramic view of Pousada. There are fresh towels and water at the gym, so all you need is workout gear and the will to sweat it out. Pool is high up and beautiful. Lastly, breakfast is always plentiful and delicious, the service is impeccable. It is the one and only place to stay in Buzios, you won't regret it.

“Charming, relaxing stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

We stayed at the Azeda Boutique hotel for 10 nights for the first stop of our honeymoon and it was just what we needed! The place is beautiful, peaceful and spacious and well decorated. We stayed in a ocean view room (Room 20) and it was really cute and cozy! It's definitely up to the standard of a typical boutique hotel with some exceptions.... Most of the staff did not speak English so we did not get a great orientation of the town, amenities or services of the hotel (for example, there was dinner served every night in the restaurant but the menu was not displayed and we didn't know the time, price etc.. - we ended up eating out every night anyway). Wifi didn't work very well at all in our room - it was much better in the common areas but even still, it was very slow (not sure if it was the actual connection or the weather - rained a few times so that could have affected it?) which was very frustrating. Also the television channels were all in Portuguese. Some good points: there was a library in the lobby - take a book, leave a book (which was great for the rainy days - especially when limited tv and wifi). The breakfast was good - very good variety and served from 8-11am (service is a little slow though - had to wait a few times for more of the warm breakfast items (eggs etc..) and the staff that did speak English were very helpful and friendly, Also it's very clean, safe location. Close to Azeda beach and about 15mins walk to centre of Buzios. We liked that it was a bit further from the busy action and very quaint (hotel is perched on a hill and felt very exclusive). The pool/jacuzzi are amazing - great views and the recreation room (with pool table, ping pong tv lounge etc..) and the fitness centre was top notch!

“Clean, friendly staff, charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

The front desk allowed us to check in early (we didn`t even have to ask for it, they simply offered since we got a lot earlier), offered us tips on attractions and were very friendly all the time. The hotel is clean and our room (no. 17) had a nice view. It not right next to the beach but it`s only a few minutes walking from Azeda and Azedinha Beaches (if you have children or people with any physical difficulties in your group, I would advice you to go by car).
There is a drugstore and a restaurant right next door, but you will have to go to Rua das Pedras to find nice stores and restaurants.

Room Tip: Rooms in the upper floor have beautiful views of the beach and part of the city.

“So quiet!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 April 2011

It was off-season so there were not a lot of guests-our group took up most of the rooms. My room was clean and comfortable. I liked having a small fridge for drinks. The breakfast was amazing-so much choice and eggs cooked to order. Town was a bit of a walk but worth it for the quiet at night. The kids enjoyed the pool and we were pretty close to a beach. I would stay here again.

“A cozy, quiet and nicely appointed boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2011

We stayed at this charming place with my wife and another couple for a week recently. Me being very sensitive to mosquito bites, I had made previous enquiries and been warned that I might be devoured by them as I actually was in Maroma Beach, Mexico (reported elsewhere on the website).

Not true of Buzios, despite the abundant vegetation everywhere: I never saw one mosquito in our suite (the hotel has only 18 rooms) and the place was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected meticulously every day.

The owner lives on the premises -we saw him at breakfast every morning -- and that is a great strength for any accomodation in Brazil, a country where nobody who lives near the sea is ever in a hurry to do anything. We Chileans tend to be less than patient with this over-relaxed attitude but at this hotel everyithing seemed to work smoothly.

There is a beautiful outdoor terrace, a small swimming pool, reading and movie areas and everything you need to get away from the noise, the pollution, and the crime scare of large cities in Brazil. You can breathe a peaceful zen atmosphere that pervades the whoie place (There is a Budda with 2 lighted candles in the dining room presiding over breakfast BTW).

The breakfast buffet was simply outstanding: great and varied Brazilian fresh fruit, cereals, assorted breads, scrambled eggs. I only missed good quality black tea.

People such as Felipe, Marcio, James were always there to help.

Leandro deserves special mention for his friendly disposition to please us and for sharing several conversations with the guests, an asset whose importance not many hotel managers seem to be aware of. Leandro did the hotel a great service with his gentle manners and helpfulness to solve problems
