I must admit we didn't actually stay at the Brava, a few of us rolled into Buzios and just wanted to check out the different parts of the island. We actually stayed in a pousada on the other side. But we rented a Buggy (recommended) and drove to Jose Fernendez, drove up the "mountain" and found this little gem tucked away. We walked up and it was like a mix between Santorini (greek island) and South Beach Miami. Art Deco meets paradise. Truly awe inspiring visuals, the website can't even do the pool justice. The restaurant looked very cool. It was spoteless, not sure where some of those comments came from. But it was also empty (hint?). We checked out the rooms; they were small, stylish and art deco-ish, but seemed too expensive. Plus I was with a bunch of guys and it was CLEARLY a place for honeymooners and/or gay guys (no offense...) so we left.
For whatever it's worth we stayed at the Rio Buzios and liked it, but I'm sure there are others even better. Unless you're going over Carnaval time, I would recommend not making a long reservation here but checking it out and staying maybe 1-2 nights. Another reader hit the nail on the head, this place is far as f$% from civilization. They actually had horses roaming around. That might be exactly what you're looking for, but I recommend renting a car (or a dune buggy) if you do. You dont need a car almost anywhere else. Again - looks really nice, but probably not worth the $ to stay there very long. Experience it for a day and move on. There are many great beached in buzios, this is only one of them.
