Stayed 7 nights at Frade Resort, which overall was an ok experience... 5 star Hotel.. Hmmmm perhaps at South American standards but not for European´s... Would call it a 3+ star hotel / resort.
The resort is HUGE... we were told apprx. 600 people are employed - in total over a year.

The room was ok - As long as you have a bed / Air-Con and nice shower / bathroom - I´m ok...

Speedy wireless internet-connection can be bought via reception (Apprx. 11 Mgps speed) - costs apprx. 25 USD for 8 hours


Food is great - Buffet every day - did not hear of any stomag problems which is quite normal when talking buffet...
Local Drinks are included in meals (Local beers, Soft Drinks & the best of them all: Caparinha... :-) )
Outside the meals - you will be charged for drinks... Coca Cola apprx. 2,10 USD etc etc


The sourrounding´s can´t be better... A great garden - Nice pool wonderfull beach- Would recommend that you walk apprx. 500 Meters away from the small marina as it feels like small polution is comming from the boats (Oil - Gasoline etc)


Went on a boat-trip from the Marina (Catamaran boat) - apprx 4 hours - Very nice trip with 2 or 3 stops at some incredible beaches - Pure Bounty-Beaches... Clean Water - incredible...

Would I go again ? - Yes... Would not mind, however think Frade should make the resort a total "All inclusive" instead - would be much easier and cheaper at the end for all...

Hotel do Frade & Golf Resort was described by travel guides and websites as one of the best resorts in the area, with the best activities and entertainment. We decided to stay there for 5 nights, and to my surprise, I had a horrible experience. We paid about $200/person/night for the room and meals. The rooms don't qualify for one star, they compete with that of motels. The meals were repetitive and lacked variety, for buffet meals. To my surprise, unlike many all inclusive resorts, no drinks were included in our package, not even water, and for the prices they charged per drink, it really made a dent. I have stayed in many resorts were I paid possibly 1/4 of what was paid here and got so much more. No activities were included, even tennis was about $20 for 30 min, I find this ridiculous, since there is little wear to their facilities. All the activiites they offered ranged from $20 cheapest to $100's for almost nothing. The resort is extremely big, it has possibly everything you need if you are willing to spend the money, but because of this, they lock you in, it is difficult to go out, since there is very little outside of the resort, they are the main attraction, other than the surrounding islands. Their internet was $10 for 20 min, very slow and bad computers (only one worked for the entire resort), wireless is even more expensive. If you left the resort, a 15 min walk, you can pay $1 for 1hr of high speed internet. I feel that Hotel do Frade did not meet my expectations at all. Keep away unless you are willing to spend about $400-$600 a day for ar ok time. Overall 5 days was enough for me not to go back
