My wife and I spent 3 days at the Del Rey in early June. It was excellent value at 80 reals for a double room per night- booked by email. The room was simple, clean sheets and towels every day, cold water in the wash hand basin but a very hot shower in the walk in shower, individual air conditioning for our room. breakfasts were good with a a range of juices, cereals, cold cuts, and scrambled eggs and sauasages, plus numerous breads both sweet and savoury. The hotel is conveniently located about 150 metres from the main bus station and a further 100 metres will bring you to a large supermarket-Super muffato. The hotel has links with triplice travel who will pick you up from the airport for 35 reals, but it is not difficult to catch a bus from the airport for 1.85 reals, and ask for directions at the bus station at the tourist info place there, where they speak excellent English. Triplice travel offer an excellent value trip to the Argentinian falls for 40 reals plus 25 reals for the park entrance fee. Foz is a lovely city and the weather in early June- their winter - was in the mid 20's to early 30's with no rain or mosquitos! I would recommend the Del Rey without hesitation as an excellent base for visiting the Iguacu Falls. I would recommend doing the Argentinian falls first as that park visit gets you very close to the water, and do the Brazilian falls the following day in the morning when the sun is shining on the Argetinian falls and you get a better perspective of the overall falls. If you have the time, a bus trip up to the Itaipu dam- a whole 1.85 reals- and you get a free film and bus ride to see the largest hydro electric station on the planet.
