I have been fortunate to visit Ashland several times over the last year, in each case staying at the AmericInn. It is always friendly, well run, comfortable, and the rooms facing Lake Superior have an excellent view. Rooms are clean and spacious, the breakfast buffet is simple but appreciated, and in addition to the indoor pool complex there is a small beach along the lake.

Ashland itself has a special charm, and though it has seen tough times the downtown area is still well preserved with a small range of storefronts and shops that have survived the WalMart. Visit the Black Cat for terrific coffee and atmosphere, as well as the pastry shop across the street.

The hotel was clean, all the employees we encountered were very helpful, and the facilities were wonderful.

This is a nice place to stay on the shore of Lake Superior. There is an indoor pool but the chlorine smell was too strong for us to be tempted to try it. We were upgraded to a "spa"room and it was large and comfortable. The breakfast was only adequate, but the staff is friendly and helpful.

All I can say in the shortest amount of words is A+++. I was so thrilled to get a room overviewing Lake Superior and have a FREE waffle breakfast. The staff was wonderful and food was great. Definitely stay here.
