I enjoyed my stay at Pouso do Chico Rei. The inn is very atmospheric and superbly located just off Ouro Preto's main square. My room was comfortable and I loved the details as reflected in the furniture and fixtures used. The bathroom's hot water was a bit temperamental but the management had indicated (notice in the room) that the bathrooms were being enhanced.

The staff at Chico Rei were very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this inn!

Recently stayed and left after one night. The room was very nice (Pablo Neruda)) with beautiful views from windows looking in two directions. The bathroom was small and the hot water was not plentiful. The big disappointment was breakfast. We had to ask the hostess for rolls since they were already gone and also for more fruit. She brought out one sliced mango and four people jumped up to get it. Having stayed at several other less expensive hotels on this trip (Diamantina, Tiradentes, Tres Maria) whose breakfast were much larger and better, I would have to say my wife and I were underwhelmed by this experience considering the price.

I have stayed in the Pousada Chico Rei quite a few times( after trying the more expensive inns and hotels) and can only say that this is the "only" place I will ever stay in when I visit Ouro Preto and the only one I will recommend with confidence to others. Maria Helena and her husband are the epitome of hosts and will guarantee a wonderful visit to an extraordinary town.

This pousada, in the heart of Ouro Preto, has views to die for, a breakfast to sustain you for the day, easy access to the historical core of the city and a very tastefully decorated interior comprised of antiques from the region and the family's heritage. A wonderful place......
