We stayed here overnight, before and after our trip to the Pantanal The hotel reception told us that their printer had broken down when we were paying for our first night's stay and, because we were hurrying for the plane, we did not question it.
On our return home, our credit card statement showed that we had been charged for 2 nights accommodation for our first overnight stay.
In spite of numerous emails to a variety of hotel representatives and the provision of copies of:
1. Our hotel booking confirmations recording single night stays only,
2. Our flight bookings with the relevant seat stubs for our flight after our first overnight stay,
we received no positive action from the hotel and only reluctant responses that led nowhere.
Finally after 48 days of no progress, we sent emails to the Golden Tulip Head Office in Amsterdam complaining about the criminal activities of the staff at the above hotel. Those words had some effect in achieving recompense of the incorrect hotel charge but without any formal recognition of their Brasilia hotel's actions.
So, if using this hotel, ensure that you check your bill and insist on some sort of receipt. Business travellers could be prone to this scam because they may not scrutinise their bills as closely as we do and could be regularly overcharged by this hotel.
