The hotel is very well positioned in front of the main coastal avenue of Fortaleza. However, it is very deficient in basic services. For example, the automation of systems is poor, which makes you wait almost two hours by the release of an apartment. The pool bar closes too early, which is a shame considering the city's night pleasant temperature throughout the year. My girlfriend was injured in a shard of glass in the bedroom, which indicates negligence in cleaning. The tea water always arrived cold, mold on the ceiling of the reception, restaurants barely sized for the full capacity of the hotel, there conciergerie services, etc.

The hotel lobby was very appealing, full of modern art and sculpture. The staff was accommodating. The hotel was situated across from the ocean, nut most rooms don't have a sea view. I was given a smoking room (yuck!) which was a bit worn and had mildew in the shower. Overall, it was a nice hotel, but not a 5 star establishment.

Stayed at the Gran Marquise for two weekday nights in September, 2011. Outstanding service, and good location. I had no trouble getting taxis to anywhere in the city, and the beachfront room I had was large and scrupulously clean. Highly recommended. I had no problem sleeping. The restaurant on the mezzanine floor had good food, and the service was attentive.

I am just back from a really quick one day stay at the Gran Marquise. Location is good but I would say it could be better if you are on a vacation trip, as there are other sections of the beach with more restaurants and touristic sites.
Staff really try hard to provide a good service, and in my case I got quick assistance to print out my boarding pass and, also, a free late check-out was granted without any issue.
Notwithstanding the quick stay, one complain is the bathroom sink, which has a ridiculously weak flow of water (shower was good, tough, with good pressure).
Compared to other hotels in the city, I thought decoration and furniture are in good shape and somehow stylish.
As per the floor plan available in my room's door, not many of the rooms have direct views to the beach (waterfront). Most of the rooms (probably 70% of them) appear to have a partial view of the beach, from both sides of the building. Although most shall have balcony, ask for a room facing the beach, if you care for a direct view.
