Had a lovely stay in Estrela do Mar. Sean, the lovely, warm, Irish owner, couldn't have been more helpful to us - managing to sort out our onward journey by calling his friends and finding pousadas (it was peak season and no room at any Inns!).

The ambience of the hotel is charming and stylish. A lovely building bursting with character. Small and perfectly formed and a very short stroll to the beach. Breakfast was lovely too. I recommend anyone visiting this part of Salvador to book in!

This is my second time staying at this pousada... The first was Aug 2007 and most recently Dec 2011... I wanted to convey to TA's readers that if you want a good location, fair rates, nice rooms, friendly staff, and tasty Complimentary Breakfast each morning of your stay...look no further.. Sean (proprietor) has got it down on how to run his pousada... I would recommend younger gay or straight couples rather than families... The hotel is small and not much room for annoying children at play ;/ . Bigger hotels with pools would be more appropriate for that.. Good Luck with your travel plans!

Like Salvador or not, if you are there, this is a great Pousada to stay in, in quiet Barra by the beach. Lovely rooms, spacious, great breakfast, extremely helpful staff (thanks Robson and Kika) who tell you all the good stuff to see, book for you what you need, provide maps, and are just nice to talk to. Sean the owner was great. I changed my booking several times extending and then shortening - he did his max both ways.
Only 15 mins by bus or taxi from the historical centre. But u get peace and quiet.

My wife and l stayed here for a week at the end of Oct / start of Nov. Sean runs a great Pousada. Staff are excellent & helpful and the breakfasts are delicious! Rooms are good (we stayed in room 9 which was a good size) location is very close to beaches and a number of resturants. Free wifi was useful.

Highly recommend.
