We stayed in Village Nova for 5 days and 4 night. Young couple who do not speak Portuguese. The location is perfect right across the road from the beach, although being near a corner where there are bars and music is played very loudly staying in a beach
front room meant being kept up late or woken very early with street noise.
In the first couple of days we made an effort to say hello to the staff but were in general met with indifference.They barely looked at or acknowledged us. No thank you or your welcome or politeness. we felt like we were bothering them. The second day our room didn't get cleaned just some fresh towels and then the third day they cleaned it properly but then again the next day they just put in some fresh towels. This is not really what we expected froma a place in this price range. Also with the website being bilingual I (misguidedly) expected the staff to be bilingual, they were not and nor were they the least little bit helpful which is a shame considering how competitive the market is around these parts and a little customer service goes a long way. Also a note that the breakfast is average we have had much better in cheaper places and it is served with an attitude.

I would not recommend this hotel. As usual there were a mix of pros and cons to staying here, but the cons outweighed the pros pretty significantly, especially for the price. The hotel seems a bit run down and when we arrived for check in, the girl who checked us in did not seem to know what was going on. Our room had not been made up when we returned and it was frustrating that the hotel only had one copy of our room key, so that we had to keep asking to get back to our room.

Some of the issues we encountered are part and parcel when staying at a more intimate, family-run, 'bed and breakfast' style hotel, but for the price we paid really can't recommend.

The location was great and the family who run the hotel seemed lovely, but with the issues in service and amenities, you can do a lot better in Salvador I think, particularly for the nightly rate.

i stayed here for 3 days in November 2010! I really liked the staff, the location and the rooms. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to make sure i had a great time in Salvador. The breakfast was also excellant, and i really liked the little cafe next to the hotel (owned by the hotel). I would love to stay there when i return next year, and i hope they have a room available for me.

This is a small paradise in the a great location in Barra Salvador. The hotel is run by a lovely family that made us feel so welcome it was like being at home.
The building and atmosphere is very unique with room working there way through a series of indoor and outdoor spaces, all with different local artwork.
We left Salvador for a few days to travel, when we went back to Salvador we went straight back to village nova.
They also have an amazing included breakfast!
