“Old smelly rooms”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2007

This hotel was recomended to me by a friend that has been there in business. I thought it should be fine, but I never thought I would find myself staying in such a smelly place.

The bathroom was very dirty, with a lot of limescale all over it, the room had an old decor ( I should say needs updating), the bed was small and as my husband and I are fairly tall we had to sllep with our feet out of the bed.

Majority of the staff fairly friendly, but unable to speak English, they could not careless if you were there as they always have large groups with conference, etc...

We were unable to use the swimming pool as there was always some sort of event going on there, with people dressed on business atire, plus the man decided to clean the swimming pool limescale without giving the guests any prior warning.

Only one lift, when it was working. Very dirty. Dirty!

Fairly good location, our room had a nice view and not so bad breakfast.

I do not recomend.

Stayed October 2006

“Decent clean hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2006

Just an ok hotel. Went there in a package holiday, and soon we realised it was one of those hotels ready to host large groups. It is indeed used quite a lot for conferences, business meetings, etc. Still, it's pretty decent. The room we stayed in looked a bit "old-fashioned" (decoration wise) and had no views, but it couldn't be cleaner. Actually, the whole place was extremely clean. The common areas were refurbished and looked a bit more "modern". There's only one elevator and that can sometimes be a problem... you always have the stairs!
Staff friendly enough, professional... obviously used to handle large groups of lost tourist and visitors... I speak Portuguese so I couldn't check if they spoke other languages myself, but I did hear one of the guys speaking some English on the phone and some others speaking some Spanish.
The restaurant is very good and the buffet breakfast is just suberb! It was great to go downstairs every morning knowing you'll be filled with Brazilian delights!
The location is ok too. You'll have to get the bus or a taxi to get anywhere in the city, but there's a (windy) beach across the street, some shops in the area, and the AeroClube (a sort of open mall) 15/20 minutes walking.
Quiet and safe enough too.
Would I come back? ... It's not the greatest hotel in the world, but everything worked out ok and they were nice so... why not? (I'd definitely go back for the breakfast, oh yeah)
