Near to Pelorinho, this hotel trades on location and maybe legacy. Spacious rooms with ocean rooms also help. I stayed here twice in one week for a total of 3 nights. The staff are unmotivated and clearly dislike their jobs. Their English language skills are a little weak. I was left waiting to pick up a room key for 7 minutes while their reception was talking on the phone. I eventually wrote the number on my hand and put it in her face after a number of fruitless attempts. The wireless Internet is also not free and roughly R20 per day. The hotel does have a ski lift down to the marina restaurant which is also poorly staffed but they are somewhat more helpful. The food is typical Brazilian fare.
The upside of this hotel is that it is very near to s supermarket and about 10 minutes by taxi to Pelorinho which is charming but a little seedy at the same time. There is also a park within 5 minutes with a monument that is worth walking to. Breakfast is big and with an admirable if not comically large cake selection for breakfast. This is served downstairs, next to the pool which is easily 20+m above sea level. The ski lift and dubious standing tower which takes you back up to the hotel from the sea is amusing and not to be missed.
The rates here are quite cheap for the city and location to Pelorinho. If you are someone who enjoys 5 star comforts, boutique hotels and attentive staff - prepare for disappointment. If you just want somewhere to sleep with a decent view and a large breakfast and shot distance to Pelorinho and the lighthouse among other sites then this hotel ticks those boxes.
