“Great view, but the rooms need a remake”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

The hotel is well located and all the rooms have a great view. The only thing that really bothered me was that the rooms were clearly showing their age.
The balcony door was hard to open because it was damaged by salt spray from the sea. The furniture looked and felt old, and a bit damaged too.
Internet was a problem, It was slow and at some point, I just gave up.

“Call Vera”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

It's a four stars hotel, facing the sea, where you have a very good breakfast - eggs at your order, breads, cakes, fruits and different juices, ham and a choice of cheese. Dining room is over the sea with floor to ceiling windows. Wonderful view!
Rooms are clean, but deserving an updating. For example, they don't have rugs, so when you wake up morning you step the cold floor or you put, immediately, your slipper. It needs also, blackout curtains because you wake up when the sun rises. The system they have there to avoid it, doesn't work.
Best thing is the staff: the receptionists are nice, attentive and patient with the guest's needs. As the hotel doesn't have a "concierge" the receptionist job is very hard.
There is a lady working at the bar that makes the difference, indeed. Her name is Vera, her nickname is Verinha, and she helps you with everything you possibly need or want... She loves to pamper the guests and from the moment you know her on, you can bet you'll have an angel caring of you.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise

“Need a remaking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

Excelent staff. Great breakfast. Good location. Wonderfull view. Bedrooms a little bit old. Windows keep making noises all night long because of the wind, wich was a real problem for us since we were with our 10 months old son. Poor hot water in the shower. The 3 elavators are not enough when hotel is operating on it's full capacity.

Dear Guest,

We truly thank you for comments and compliments about our services and staff. We feel sorry for the inconvenient with the windows. These last days we had strong winds in the city, which is not common, mainly in this period of the year. We had a little trouble with hot water, but it had already been solved. Thank you once more! We wish to receive you and your family again in a near future.

“It may be dated, but still very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

We have always stayed here and enjoyed the exceptional service. But there is no gym! Last year we used the Ondina Apartment gym which was wonderful. But when we arrived this year, we were shocked to discover that no gym here and there was an 18 dollar ( CAD) charge per visit to the Ondina one.We travel for business but find it imperative to work out while we are away and this is going to be a big problem for us. Without a gym, we may not stay here again. We have never stayed anywhere that did not have a gym for the use of the patrons. We hope that the hotel will either enter an agreement with Ondina gym or have one on their premises.

The front desk people are terrific and so helpful in everything! The breakfast buffer is very good with lots of options for a good breakfast. Never seen so many sweet breads and cakes as well as fresh fruit and some bahian dishes like tapioca oatmeal.

The rooms are spacious and charming with an old world feeling. The sea views and sunsets are also wonderful. The beach here is rocky and not really useable but the pool area is great. Barra :lighthouse is visible from rooms as well.

The rooms are spotlessly clean and well kept even if there is some wear showing . We found it charming with it's wooden shutters and painted furniture.

Several places to eat right near the hotel. If looking for a quick meal, there is a pizza place and a by the Kilo restaurant which we went to and found it to be quite good for a quick dinner.

Room Tip: We usually have a room on the 9th floor. This year we had 918 and think it had a super view of the o...
