“Smart and arty”

Warm welcoming, nice rooms with view on the bay. Fresh homemade breakfast.
Refinded arty design and nice patio + terrasse.
4 rooms om the street and 4 on the bay. We had one on the bay, which was very nice with a privative terrase. Inside, the patio gives a lot of light.
The staff and proprieraty give a warm and personnal attention to the hosts.
The pousada also eased the organisation of a trip to Boipeba, with good address there.

“Under expectations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

I booked one night at Pousada des Arts before taking a boat to Morro de sao Paulo but i did not feel properly treated.
I booked a transfer from the airport but none came to pick us up , and another disappointing aspect as been that they charged me a local phone call I asked them to make for me: if you are not a hostel traveller , a local phone should be free, and actually it has been in any other hotel i stayed in brasil.

But for this , the hotel is nice and has character.
Rooms are simple but confortable.
Breakfast is great and it is in a convenient position.

They should just work more on the training of their staff.

Good morning,
I am sorry for the taxi problem, you booked on Booking and ask the taxi via their site, it has normaly to be reconfirm directly to the hotel, reason why we did not send it, sorry.
For the fone call, we pay all the comunications, even locals, so we charge it to our custumers.
The Wi Fi is free in all the hotel. All hotels charge fone comunications.
The is the only low reviewa we have in 3 years.
Sorry again,
Eric

“I am so going back”

My mother and I just came back from a trip to Brazil. One of the pit stops on our tour was Salvador. Pousada des Arts had been recommended to us by a Brazilian travel agency so I booked. We had the most incredible time there. The Pousada is gorgeous, tastefully adorned with local art. We had a beautiful room with view on the ocean, hardwood floors, vivid colors and a wonderful balcony with armchairs and a hammock which made the mornings and evenings very relaxing. The staff was super friendly and the breakfast, homemade, absolutely delicious. Pousada des Arts is located on a quiet street, conveniently 2 minutes away from Convento do Carmo and the Pelourinho. Whenever I get to go back to Salvador, there is just no way I am staying anywhere else. Highly recommend it.

Room Tip: If you can afford, get the top floor w/ ocean view

Charming hotel with warm and friendly staff. Great location. Super helpful. Definitely do the sailboat ride with Eric (the French owner) if you get the chance. Awesome breakfast included!

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the bay are best

“Comfortable, exotic, beautiful, friendly and great food”

If you're going to Brazil, don't miss Salvador. It's a 2 hour flight from Rio. As the first city in Brazil it's got great Portuguese colonial architecture, crafts, and ancient streets. As the home of Afro-Brazilian culture-- this was the port for the huge African-Brazilian slave trade-- it is rich in hybrid Potuguese-native-Afro-Brazilian culture and arts. Think: African drumming and chanting in a gilded Portuguese Catholic church, with communion.

There are also beaches, boat trips, and a terrific mercado for crafts things.

This hotel was perfect. it's a small beautiful restored 18th century house, with striking traditional and contemporary arts all over the place. It's walking distance from the center of the old city. Eric, the French-Brazilian owner, speaks English and is generous with his time and recommendations. He took some of us to the huge vegetable/fruit market one morning. Excellent breakfast on a terrace overlooking the bay-- lots of fruit and local pastries. Tons of coffee. Lots of common space to hang out. And wireless internet.
