Really nice and calm hostel with beautiful ocean view. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everything is nice and clean. The tasty breakfast is served on the terrace with view on the ocean. The whole atmosphere is very enjoyable. The hostel is located close to the area Rio Vermelho with nice bars. Close by you can also find buses going to the city center or to other beaches.I will definitely come back!

I would like to recommend Albergue Pedra da Sereia. We stayed 4 nights and we had a great time. The location for us was excellent, as the albergue is located close to the university, where we attended a conference. At the same time it is right between Barra and Rio Vermelho, and right on Ondina beach.

I especially liked the ambiance in the hotel, thanks to the very friendly help of Michael (the owner), Claudia and other lady's helping out. Rooms are clean, and the albergue is nicely decorated. And it has a beautiful big terrace, where you can relax in a hammack, work or study, with a beautiful view on the sea.

APdeS is a great place to stay in Salvador. It's right on the beach and the hammock strewn balcony is the BEST place to hang out...you can lose yourself for hours up there! There is WiFi and the owner Michael is a fountain of info, super helpful and friendly: check he is going to be around when you book as he really makes the place what it is. The breakfasts are good and all out on the fabulous balcony, its friendly: we went out some evenings with people we met over the breakfast orange juice.
It is right next to the beach which is great, you can also get the bus pretty easily up to Salvador town. You can walk down to the local square for drinks and street food in the evening. at first glance i have to confess we didn't think the location was that salubrious but it did really grow on us over the days were were there.
Our bedroom was the only slight disappointment in that it wasn't as beautifully decorated as the rest of the place. Would also have appreciated a lock on the window as there seemed no point in locking the door to our room given the window!
That said we loved our time there and could easily have stayed another few days just hanging out on the beach in the morning, the amazing balcony on the afternoon sunset and then out for drinks and food in the evening. Was super friendly, secure ( there is a security buzzer on the outside door, very good system) well run, clean and would concur with all the other great recommendations on Trip Advisor for this place. If you are going to Salvador then this is absolutely the best place to stay. It's like a posh hostel and great value. We would go again in a heartbeat.

p.s. also worth mentioning its on the main bus route so we got a bus to the airport when we left rather than a taxi. It was way cheaper, easy and door to door pretty much! Tell the driver you want to get off at Sukiyaki Japanese restaurant if you are doing it in reverse.
