I stayed in Solar dos Deuses in may/2011.

As I had only one weekend in Salvador, and as my wife and I wanted to visite the historical center, we were looking for a hotel in Pelourinho. I was a bit concerned regarding security but was positively surprised with how safe the place was. I arrived in the hotel at night and didn't see any problem with that.

The staffing of the hotel is amazing. Having breakfast in the room was also very pleasant. The room is broad and super clean. Preserved the local characteristics but it's also a luxury place.

I had one of the best weekend-trips ever and the hotel was responsible for a big part of it.

Highly recommended.

Its location is superb, at the heart of Pelourino, as well as the staff, always worried to make your stay as much comfortable as they can, and of course the spatious and fabulously decorated in traditional style rooms.
Breakfast was something to underline: you have to choose time, food and drinks the night before and they serve it in the room. Lovely!

Right in the middle of Salvador's (former) colonial splendour - absolutely perfect for sightseeing and dining out. The Swiss owner will make you feel welcome in his pousada where breakfast is served in your exquisitely furnished room overlooking one of the city's most picturesque squares - a truly unique and unforgettable experience. Enjoy!

We were there for 3 nights, end of december. The hotel is very good situated (in the middle of the old town, perfect for sightseeing!)

There is no lobby or bar just a little front desk - but we didn't missed'it at all. The hotel and room was clean, the interior very nice in old-modern-bahian style. The staff was very kind and helpful. You can fill out the breakfast order with all wished things and the breakfast will be brought and served in to the room (it was excellent!) There is a big choice of restaurants, bars, shops and tourist atractions around, all by walking distance. There is a possibility to book a sightseeing-tour trought a tour operator right in the next buillding; the tour was interesting and we can recommend'it even we have to appologise about the bad organisation.

Even we heard about safety problems in Salvador, we had no bad experiences, probably becuase of tourist-police presence. However, you have to keep your eyes open and don't walk around by night.

Summing up, Solar dos deuses was a great place and we've enjoyied our stay there!
