At the time I stayed it was the only well known hotel chain in the city. I have stayed in Sheraton hotels in various places around the world and never been disappointed, until here.
I stayed for a month at a time for 3 months, but under duress.
The hotel has a very dated feel, the standard of customer service is poor, the lobby in the evenings is full of a certain kind of female clientelle, that all move later on to the nightclub integral in the hotel. Smoking also appears to be complulsary, especially at the table next to me whenever I had my breakfast.
The rooms are large, the breakfast is very good, there is internet in the rooms at a price and some rooms have a good view out to the see.

We had a great experience staying at the Sheraton in Oran. The kids had a blast, the pools were always super clean, the hotel is wonderful, the food is decent..overall excellent.. I will be back in summer 2011 and I would only hope the cost would go down a little.

The building itself is impressing considering the surroundings as Oran is a quite run down and poor city. Room was good (international) Sheraton standard though housekeeping was a little so and so with consistency and hardly spoke any English (or French). Had a classic king size bed room; very good matress; request a sea view high up. Restaurants... avoid the brasserie Canastel unless you just want a simple snack, the "fine dining" on top floor valued for its setting and dinner was fine. Not much of a wine selection (pricy) but local beer tastes just fine. Simple breakfast room service took forever, around 40 minutes, to arrive. The crowd at the in-house (expensive and lively) night club was unique in its local mix...
Overall Staff not extremely friendly, with few exceptions as the charming PR manager I chatted with at reception.
And hallo, who charges for internet access today...?

Due to ill handled luggage at CDG Paris I arrived with only my computer. Sheraton did not only provide necessary toilette equipment. They took a copy of lost luggage documentation and did not give up until my bag arrived at Oran, where they picked it up and brought to the hotel and delivered up to my room. They most definitely live up to their five stars!!!
