“Best Enodin Location with Fujiyama View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

We were on our way from Hakone to Tokyo, taking a detour to visit Kamakura and sites along the Enodin Line (the rides along the Enodin is an attraction by itself). The hotel is beautiful, clean, with great views, has a grand reception area and a hugh outdoor swimming pool, together with all the Japanese perfections! The elevator connecting the wedding hall to the main building is one of a kind - instead of the normal up-down movement, it is a sideways and up-down elevator with a small love seat for you to enjoy the 3 min ride. Great breakfast. Great beach - during the 2-day stay, I walked along the beach area from 6AM to 9AM. Before I came here, I didn't realize that lots of Japanese Dramas were actually filmed on locations along this beach. The view of Enoshiima was immediately recongized as I have seen this many times in different dramas and movies. The second morning, the added bonus was the clear view of Fujiyama completely visible between Enoshima and the mainland for about 2 hours. This is a rare sight as it disappeared quickly when the fog came in. I would never expect seeing Fujiyama here! We can actually see Fujiyama from the balcony of our room and from the swimming pool.

“Nice hotel, maybe a bit far from the center, but close to the beach!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011 via mobile

great place to stay, except two things: a bit expensive and right next to a busy street. The location at the beach makes up for it, though.

I had a great time here. We only stayed for one night but it was gorgeous and we had a view of the pool with the ocean right behind it. It was a wonderful hotel.

“Good base to enjoy both historical Kamakura and its seaside”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2010

The area is easily accessible by one day trip from Tokyo, but we decided to stay 3 nights to deeply explore it. The hotel was indeed right for this purpose.

It was so much fun to visit historical monuments and streets of Kamakura by small charming Enoden trains. Kamakura is full of trees once stepped out from the central area and we even did a light trekking in forest one day. The hotel is a few min. walk from Shichirigahama Beach where many poplular restos, cafes are found.

All the rooms are seaview at this hotel. We booked rather cheap through Rakuten travel site and the seaview was over a school courtyard, which was not a problem for us.

Our "Holywood Twin" room (two 110cm wide beds combined into one), looked clean and properly updated.

Facilities and public space are limited but such are unnecessary for this particular location/purpose.

The in-house French restaurant seems well reputed, but its course menus did not fascinate us. A number of interesting restos nearby, which we of course enjoyed trying around. We particularly liked Sangosho Restaurant (enchanting!), for its Polynesian curry, within walking distance from the hotel.

Whilst the hotel offers bus transfer service from/to Shichirigahama train station, it is easy to walk from/to the station (about 5-10 min.). There is also public bus services.

I recommend this hotel to all Kamakura explorers.

p.s. The beach was nicely quiet in Feb. but it should be very crowded in summer.

“Great resort hotel in a wonderful spot near the Daibutsu”

Cannot say enough good things about the Kamakura Prince. This is up to the standard of a California resort hotel someplace like Huntington Beach. Rooms are large, comfortable and gracious, bathrooms huge and inviting, beds very, very restful. The hotel is located some distance from the city center on a little electric train line that is itself a tourist attraction. You quickly learn that the way to get back and forth is to take that train, walk a block to the hotel's congress and banquet hall, and then take the elevator that rises diagonally through the rock to the cliff on which the hotel proper sits. Nifty and convenient. Our only complaint was that the Japanese restaurant in the hotel had no English menu and no English-speaking staff, so we had to go to their French dining room. Frankly, we found the level of English throughout Japan very modest, and once you figure out that your US-issued ATM card won't work anyplace other than a 7-11 and the Post Office, you can be comforted by the fact that there's a 7-11 close to the train stop for the Kamakura Prince.
