“Good Location & Decent Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

It's a older 2-story motel with outside doors. Beds are fine. Breakfast is not great but it works. Price was good for DC. Gosh, hotels are expensive in DC. Columbia Heights bus stop right out front and after you board the bus you're at the Pentagon Metro Station in 10 minutes. McDonalds across the street and other ethnic restaurants nearby. Desk folks are fine and let me check in early after I arrived from the airport. I'll stay here again because of the location and price.

“Better than Expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

We wanted to stay in Washington D.C. but the prices of the hotels in DC were way out of our price range. We decided to give the Days Inn a try and honestly we were not expecting much. We were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is older and the rooms aren't the best but for the price we were very happy. The facility does have a laundry room for guests. It costs (1.75 for washer and dryer). They do only have one of each for the entire building but we never had to wait to use them. The hotel is located near several dining choices including a great Thai Restaurant right next to the hotel. The room has a TV with a good selection of stations, a refrigerator and microwave. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. They have printed directions on how to get to D.C. from the hotel (via a bus and the train). All together the trip into the city took about 30 minutes (less if you catch the bus right away like we did 2 out of 3 times). I recommend this hotel to anyone (with and without children). We got a quiet nights sleep each night and the neighborhood seemed safe.

“Bed Bugs”

I have 11 bug bites an counting. This place is disgusting. Don't stay here. Don't be confused by the main picture because it actually looks like a cheap motel. The ones where when you walk out of your room, you are outside.

“dirtiest hotel I've seen in a long while...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

Whilst attending a meeting nearby for a few days, I checked into the Days Inn. However, I nearly checked out on my first evening. The first room I checked into had no wi-fi signal so the receptionist helpfully checked me into another with a signal - this, in addition to cost and location, being the reason I chose the hotel. The elevator broke during my move from the first room which didn't surprise the receptionist -a sign I should have found another place straightaway.

The second room appeared not to have been cleaned properly for some months - the carpet at the perimeter of the room was covered in old hair/dust/goodness knows what (see photos). I checked the bed and mattress thoroughly for bed bugs but thankfully found none. The heater was utterly disgusting also - so I made do without heating for a few days for fear of what might crawl out of the unit! And I kept my suitcase shut and on the unit away from bedding and the carpet to try and avoid taking home any small invertebrate visitors.
Hot water only seemed available during the early part of the day - my shower head also had somebody else's hair on when I first went to use it.

For security, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to any single female travellers - the door locks are flimsy, the large window looking straight into the room meant it was easy for someone to peer through the shabby curtains inside (plus you could feel the wind blowing through the side of the door)

On the plus side (there were two pluses!), the wi-fi was fast and the reception staff were friendly and helpful for giving advice on restaurants and taxis. However, I would never stay here again.

Room Tip: Find another Days Inn to stay in for a little extra money.

“Handy place for short visit to the Capital”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

people found this review helpful

We enjoyed our visits here on the way to and back from Willamsburg. (where we went by train from Grand Union Station- a great way to do it) Its is low cost considering its proximity to Washingon . The rooms are a bit tired but they had everything we needed. We did not have a car but got there ok from Dulles by taxi and then returned by bus, train and bus. There is a lovely Thai restaurant on the premises and right opposite is the Arlington Draft cinema which is a must visit. The reception staff were extremely helpful and the continental breakfast was fine Would I stay there again? Definitely

Room Tip: Book two weeks ahead for a discount
