The exterior of this 18 floor glass-and-steel anonymous building looks like a clean transistor, while the interior throws you back to The War. It almost smells of England and the Old Country. The room was a bit small compared to what you might find in Europe at, for example, Hotel Bristol in Vienna, and the bathroom is not so grand, but the style is the basically the same. The shower is excellent, worthy of a spa, with a neat feature that allows you to regulate the water flow at the flick of a finger. My room, which was on the 7th floor, looked south and was absolutely silent; no noise from the street and no noise from neighbors or the air conditioning. A metro station is right at the front door - doesn't get better than that. The staff were excellent.
Cons: Room service food was acceptable, but not up to the standards of a truly fine hotel. The windows are sealed, so no fresh air for you until the War's over. The cable channels include MSNBC but, inexplicably, no HGTV. You are in a suburban no-man's land of highways and parking lots. There is a gigantic mall right next door and some shopping in the complex behind the hotel, but it's an area where people shop and drive.
Room Tip: High style, high-rise, and highways.
