We stayed here for a couple of days of business in WDC and several days of sight-seeing. The hotel is in a great location since it's so close to the metro.
The confusing part was finding the hotel coming out of the metro -- here's a map at http://www.winepi.com/BestWesternIwoJima.pdf -- that should help. From the Rosslyn Metro, it is a bit of a walk downhill to the hotel, so it's a bit up going back--not too bad, though and it wasn't enough of a hill for folks in their 50s to 70s who are in decent shape.
The neighborhood seems to be good, so no real concerns walking from the metro to the hotel at night.
The business district is a few blocks north on Wilson / Clarendon. the hotel will give you a set of info on nearby businesses, but it's oriented to drivers, not walkers. Note that you really can't walk directly north from the hotel: you have to go west, then north, and it's a fairly steep hill. Access from Reagan National is great via metro.
The hotel itself is fine -- there is coffee, orange juice and fruit at the counter in the lobby in the AM, but no breakfast. We brought / bought cereal, milk, instant oatmeal and used the refrigerator and microwave.
We recommend this for budget-minded, easy-to-get-to-WDC travelers.
