So I stay here for work 3-4 times a year. The staff is friendly and they have a shuttle from Reagan National Airport. It stops at other hotels along the way, but it's reliable. They also have a shuttle that will take you to locations within a mile...like the Harris Teeter (grocery store) or the Pentagon City Mall or restaurant row. It's also within walking distance of the Pentagon Memorial, which I recommend you go see. It's tough, but worth the emotional kick in the pants.

The gym is sometimes difficult to get a treadmill on during those few hours just after 5PM. I usually set up a video in my room. There is no DVD player in the room, but the Internet service is decent. They have a kitchen, full sized fridge and dish washer. There are many restaurants in walking distance. They have a great selection of breakfast items, and the lobby is usually full of people, though it doesn't seem crowded. They also have a dinner thing, but I haven't made it to one yet, I like my solitude after a long day. Every room seems to have a great view.

The rooms are clean, quiet, well appointed and roomy. The beds are comfy, and it feels safe and secure. I can't think of a downside, except I'd love it if they had a lounge/restaurant on site.

Having booked this based on TA reviews, I had good expectations. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 teens so we appreciated the sizeable rooms. We found this hotel to be very clean and the staff to be helpful and welcoming. The included breakfast was excellent and the location was perfect - close to the Metro station and Mall. We ate in nearby restaurants as well as at the mall and there was a great range within a few minutes walk. Would stay here again.

The Residence Inn Arlington Pentagon City is a "hotel to love" so it gets my repeat business and I have also enjoyed the Ritz across the way occasionally.
Noticed that the Residence Inn front desk staffers are exceptional with low turnover, and they display consistent people skills whether the place is crowded or less full...and the managers are people who take pride in doing things well. As a military brat, I really love the views of Arlington and the Pentagon from this hotel and I enjoy seeing the military career people that are always part of the guests in the dining area.
They do sell a choice or two of bottles of wine or beer to guests but I prefer to take the always ready shuttle to the Ritz or to pleasant Pentagon Row restaurants. So there is no bar in the Residence Inn but you do get a kitchenette and well stocked room and views. Breakfast is quite ample and other mid week evening meals are offered free. I like the safe underground and well monitored parking although it costs 22 dollars a night. The area is exceptionally safe and access to the city is fabulous with a very convenient Metro station at the Pentagon Mall. The ride across the river is short and sweet.

The Residence Inn is undergoing renovations which are needed. This hotel is a favorite for tourist buses and Pentagon military travelers and their associates so it gets a lot of traffic. The bathrooms have sinks outside which is handy...and every room seems to have a fold out couch and extra blankets. But the tile in the baths is dated and the renovation hammering starts at 8:30 or 9am. Even so, I shared a room with a person who had never been there and she said she "loved this hotel." The Airport shuttles run frequently and efficiently.

Highly recommended for anyone with leisure or business in DC

Although I've enjoyed this hotel as both a guest and a conference participant in the past, my most recent experience as a commuter just blew me away. That was the evening when I walked all the way over to the hotel from the Pentagon to try to catch a cab to Alexandria, when subway service was suspended unexpectedly. The lobby was exactly as I remembered it: a welcoming space where guests were lounging contentedly. This hotel has a clean, welcoming look and feel throughout; everything about it is very pleasant, including the staff. The desk staff had things well in hand and immediately helped by calling a taxi company. However, when 15 minutes had elapsed and the Inn's shuttle driver discovered that I was still waiting, he drove me a couple of blocks to a cab stand at Pentagon City Mall. I was astonished by the hotel's desire to help, and intend to recommend it to friends and colleagues who are traveling to the area.
