“My trip to Washington, DC”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

I Stayed here for 4 days. It is an older motel, no modern conveniences such as WIFI or HIdef TV, but the room has 2 queen size beds which are very comfortable. There are a lot of television stations to watch. The A/C is great. The motel is very very quiet. There is a breakfast lay out in the morning, but it is not worth it. Its better to walk a block down the street to Starbucks and have real coffee and a real breakfast. The maids who clean up the rooms are friendly and do a great job. For the money, and they gave a senior rate, it was a good deal.

Room Tip: ask for a ground floor room.

“Great location for a family trip”

We stayed here for a 4 day family trip to DC the first week of Aug. It was easy to find. The Metro was a pleasant and safe 10 minute walk down Wythe. We parked the car for the entire trip. The blue line took us to all the sights we wanted to see. On the return metro ride, go one stop south past Braddock Road (the stop to get back to the Travel Lodge) and go to King Street, take the free trolley to the pier and a multitude of shops/restaurants. We ate at Bugsys, a pizza place, that was fantastic! The room we stayed in was snug, but clean, no bugs, and met all our needs of a good night's rest after walking to many wonderful sites. We requested a fridge and got one without a problem. The only down side is the breakfast. Only two choices of cereal, bagels, toast, and juice/coffee. It served the purpose of saving us breakfast expense and filled us. Nothing special, but adequate. We were able to park our car on the last day past our check out time as we went into the city one more time. Our family of four very much enjoyed the room and would stay here again!

“Good choice for the price and location”

Stayed at this Travelodge during our trip to Alexandria. Hotel was basic but met our needs since we really were only sleeping there. Room was outdated but clean and had comfortable beds. Coffee maker was included. Shower worked well. Staff was pleasant and efficient. Parking was free (a bonus in this area), and we could walk to the metro and King St. Didn't see any bugs of any kind.

Free breakfast was included but extremely limited with only sugared cereals and tiny bagels or white bread for toast. One healthy cereal or whole grain bread would have done it for me. But it was free, and you don't have to eat it......

Overall, a very good deal in this pricey area.

“Location!”

This hotel was exactly as a expected. It is a Travelodge. The room was old and outdated but it was clean, bug free, and the bed was relatively comfortable. They also provide free parking. The free breakfast leaves a lot to be desired...I would skip it unless you are in a hurry. The best part of this hotel is its location. It is about 5 blocks from the metro station (make sure you walk down Wythe, Madison seems a bit unsafe) and close to numerous bus stops. You can be in heart of DC in about 20 minutes. Old Town Alexandria is also close about 1/2 mile and is a great place to spend your evenings. They offer free parking to out of town guests and a free trolley down King Street (their main downtown street). Overall, I would go again.

“Great time in Alexandria”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2011

I took my family to Alexandria to visit old town and D.C. and we loved it. I was concerned about staying at this hotel because of all of the bad write ups about bed bugs and knocking on doors in the middle of the night and generally not a good location. Well, I must say that we had a positive experience, the hotel was clean and we didn't experience any bed bugs or any bugs at all. We walked all over Alexandria and visited with lots of people in and around the area and we seemed pretty safe. The office guys helped us straighten out our reservation, my fault for last minute cold feet, but overall it worked out fine. We stayed at this hotel for six days and nights and the only complaint was that I have never seen such a small pillow, I would suggest you bring your own to make a better night sleep. I did have the middle in the night knock on the door on our first night and I laughed it off as being a ghost knock in the middle of the night. All in all it was very inexpensive and allowed us to spend our money on more important things like dinner and souvenirs.
