“A Great Place to Stay at A Great Price”

I stayed at Almost Heaven Bed & Breakfast on a business trip to the area with my Wife. Carolyn was very personable and accommodating. It is exactly what I expected for a cozy get away.

Though I had to go to seminars in the day, my wife stayed back in the room (3rd floor) and she felt very at home. It was quiet all day, we had a bathroom and a refrigerator to ourselves, internet, Direct T.V., and could help ourselves to coffee and other treats in the breakfast room. Also, Almost Heaven has an excellent location; quiet, but just a few blocks from top-notch Sushi, Bar-B-Q, Greek, Korean, Thai, Indian and Mexican restaurants, and about 20 minutes from D.C.

To those who have said this is just a home, I would challenge them to find a better hotel or Inn in the area at the same price with the same accommodations.

I stay at Almost Heaven often. Carolyn is wonderful as is her family. She really goes out of her way to make you feel at home. The thing is, she works and doesn't have time during the week to prepare breakfast but she will ask what kind of preferences you have and then make sure you have what you love on hand. I had my husband and three kids in the 'Seclusion' room on the basement level and it was great. The beds are truly fabulous mostly Ralph Lauren sheets. The home is spotless (she even lets you use her wireless internet), the service is great, i've never been on a weekend but i hear that the man of the house makes a mean omlet. Its close to fort belvoir where i work when i am down there, they accept government per diem rates and the rooms are charming. Carolyn even had to come bail me out of the metro parking lot one time because all i had was cash and didn't know i needed a smartcard to get out. Overall its wonderful to feel so at home so far away from home. I'll be back for business and for family trips to DC. She even lets you hang out in the jacuzzi at night which is so relaxing.

“Fabulous stay at Almost Heaven”

We stayed at Almost Heaven for 7 nights. I stayed there during the day while my husband worked. I was in the Top of The World. It was very comfortable. The room is quiet large and decorated in soft reds, golds and tans with deep plush comforter, drapes and wall paint to match. The sheets did match the comforter, the sheets were changed 2 times so we had the reds and the tans for sheets. The colors are very soothing and soft. The décor is very tastefully done as it is all appeared to be name brand and all matching. The room has it's own air conditioner, fan, ceiling fan and the central air system. We were the only guest on this floor. The bathroom is across the breezeway but the entire top floor is very private. We had plush bath towels that match the golds, tans and reds from the bedrooms. We had our own microwave and refrigerator. I was very comfortable staying there all day. I used my wireless all day and went down coffee and tea as I wanted. Carolyn had told me to make my self at home, make tea or coffee if I wanted, since I am home all day. She invited me to eat whatever I liked. The host family were very friendly and helpful with directions, restaurants and sightseeing. I was very comfortable and felt very welcomed. The breakfast items were numerous, they offered on a daily basis, fruit, milk, juice, coffee, breakfast bowls for the microwave, sausage and biscuits, maybe 15 different cereals, along with 3 or 4 different types of bagels and breakfast breads. They aslo had all kinds of jellies, peanut butters, yogurt, cottage cheese, baby bel cheese. It was a very well stocked breakfast. BUT, I agree the hot breakfastmust have been cooked by the best Chef in town. It was outstanding. I found the place to be clean, maids were there two times during our 7 night stay along with the host family cleaning all the time. The home is very spacy and well decorated. The family was very friendly and helpful.

“Our stay at Almost Heaven”

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at Almost Heaven. Over all we were treated pretty fairly, but there were a few things that the innkeeper states in her write ups that never were offered. Innkeeper states that there is coffee or tea offered at all times. Since no one is home during the day, there was no coffee or tea made for the afternoon. After coming back from a day of sight seeing, a cup of coffee would have been nice. I had to ask each time I wanted coffee or something to drink. Carolyn did make it for us, after she got home from work, but I felt as if it was a burden. Also, there were no desserts or snacks offered during our entire stay, as noted in her write up.
There was no way my husband or I could walk to the Metro. It was at least a 2 mile trip on very busy roads with no sidewalks.
There also were no discount tickets offered as stated in her write up. Innkeeper knew we were going to DC and Mount Vernon, but never offered any discounts for us to use.
The B&B is in a very nice safe neighborhood. Our room was nice, but at times we were both cold. The innkeeper did adjust the heat for us, but other guests complained about it being too warm.

“Anything But Heaven”

I wish I had read reviews before booking this ?B&B? This was the first vacation my husband and I had in eight years and it was our 25th wedding anniversary. When we finally found the place it was located in a subdivision. I asked if we were at the right place. After we checked in, we were told to go to the third floor room. It was hot, no air, but had a large fan and ceiling fan. The room was small and I thought I was in a brothel with the red and gold brocade spread, black shears on the windows and red sheets. The bath was across the house, not at all private, lots of towels (mixed colors like they were left overs) and placed on top of the toilet so you had to hold the lid up to use the facilities. After crying most of the night we went down to breakfast. Two other couples were there. One women had a disiability and was placed in the basement room. There are NO accommodations for the disabled. The second couple were just as horrified as we were at the condition of our rooms. The fake flowers look like they had not be dusted for years. After two days we were told we could move to the second floor which we were happy to do, since the bathroom was now next to our room but still in the public area across the hall from the owners and their son's rooms. Breakfast was self-serve during the week as the family left before any of the guests were ready for breakfast. The kitchen was filthy with garbage running over in the can and the sink full of stinky dishrags. You had clean up the dishes for yourself or at least leave them in the kitchen. The decor was something else. Family photos and junk everywhere. You felt you were intruding on their lives, Carolyn was friendly, but the husband and son never spoke. We would leave as early as possible and come back as late as possible to avoid being there, it was only a place to sleep. We felt like we had rented a sleeping room for eight days instead of a Bed & Breakfast. We left two days early because we just couldn't stand it anymore. Of course we could have gone somewhere else, but we had already paid for eight days and could not afford to pay for another place to stay. I would not recommend this place to anyone, they need to change the name to Almost Anything But Heaven
