“A very comfortable place to stay”

I stayed here for two weeks, so can report this is a consistently good place to stay. It's cozy (not too big), quiet, clean, and friendly. The free breakfast is good, and the free snacks really do make a difference. So nice when you just have to have something at night. The staff is friendly, helpful and pleasant. I really appreciated the shuttle bus, as it took me to the train station every day or into Old Town Alexandria, which was too far for me to walk. The location is excellent. There is a grocery about a block away which is another option for snacks or carry out food. There is plenty of free parking which appears to be rare around here. It's quiet, even though it's just off the main road, and it's a lovely residential area. Oh, and the beds are comfortable, with thick fluffy comforters, the towels are nice, and the tv's are new. Pretty much everything you could want.

Room Tip: My room was on the second floor and faced the back which got the morning sun. There is no elevator...

“Good place to stay if visiting the D.C. area.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

The hotel room it's self was average, but with the extra amenities they offer I bumped my rating to 4 stars. The hotel is secluded in a residential area, however the shuttle service can get you to where you need to go... the airport, Old Town, and the metro station. The shuttle drivers were friendly and informative, it made using the service easy. It's a convenient subway ride in to D.C. and worth saving money spent on a hotel by staying in Alexandria. The snack bar was great as well, I was able to get bottled water whenever I wanted. The only real issue I noted with the hotel was the bathroom, it's outdated which made it look some what unclean. Other than that I had a nice stay, and would recommend staying in Alexandria if visiting Washington D.C. We were able to see and do everything we wanted in D.C., along with seeing OLD Town Alexandria which wasn't initially on our list of things to see.

“Great Value for Alexandria & Washington DC Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I definitely recommend this hotel. The furniture in the room was really nice and the room was clean. We were surprised to see so many items stocked in the kitchen and all were free. The desk, breakfast and shuttle staff were friendly and helpful. The free breakfast had a combination of hot and cold items. They provided a good selection for a complimentary breakfast. Cons: The room doors are a little loud when closing and could be a problem late at night. We stayed during Thanksgiving week so everything was nice and quite. We will stay here again!

“Probably the best modestly priced hotel in Alexandria”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I'm an Alexandria native. I stayed at this hotel for 6 days when there was a plumbing problem in my bathroom that required nearly a week's worth of repairs. I asked around, and this hotel had the best reputation for a middle-of-the-road priced hotel in the city. I have to say it earned its reputation.

On the plus side, the room was clean, the staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful, and the complimentary snack kitchen on the second floor with the microwave was really great for such a long stay. If you're a real tourist and want to get into DC, the have a complimentary shuttle bus that will take you to the metro so you can get into the city, which is pretty much the best way to do it. The shuttle can also take you to Old Town, which is the most fun part of Alexandria with the exception of maybe Del Ray.

On the minus side, the location is not that great meaning it's not in Old Town proper (technically it's in Old Town North and you could walk to Old Town, but it would be a bit of a walk) It is very close to a grocery store and a few restaurants though. Also, the morning breakfast (also complimentary) was not that great. I stuck to coffee and tea. They have a small gym in the basement/ground level, but I don't think there is a pool, or at least none I could find. Also, I wish the rooms had small fridges. After staying there for so long it got annoying having to eat out/order in for every meal.

All in all, I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to others.

“Very, very good.”

From the outside the hotel doesn't look amazing but as soon as you check in you will see that this hotel is like nowhere else you've stayed. Besides the exceptionally friendly staff, this hotel boasts a snack room (more on this below), FREE breakfast, and a FREE shuttle service.

The snack room is packed full of nearly any snack food that you can think of and it is free to use/eat anything while you are staying at the hotel. The breakfast is warm with the normal stuff including eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, hash browns...etc. The FREE shuttle is available to take you wherever you want from 7AM to 9PM.

The hotel is only two floors but with no elevator so make sure you ask for an accessible room if need be.

Room Tip: The top floor is quieter.
