The usual signature experience of the Marriott experience is lacking here. While some readers may find this review a bit critical on small things it is the small details that sets a hotel apart from others. As a traveler who has stayed over 200 nights in hotels this year, I know. As most of my trips are this was a business trip. OK, for the negatives. The parking is not ideal for larger vehicles though they do have a parking garage but this is not convenient for those with a lot of luggage. The room I stayed in was on the top floor. I was given a room directly across from the gym. Apparently plenty of people that stay at this hotel like the gym because late afternoon and early evenings I heard that door slam shut too many times. If you are traveling all day and feel like a cup of coffee or hot tea be prepared to either buy a cup of coffee starting at $3.50 and that goes for hot tea as well. This hotel only offers complimentary coffee or tea in the morning and promptly takes it away no later than 10AM. Also you have to ask where the location is as they hide it. This is to either force the guest to purchase Starbucks coffee/tea in their "bistro" or make coffee in your room. No teas are offered in the room and to get one for the room felt like I was moving mountains. No complimentary breakfasts at this hotel as with other lower tiered Marriotts and other Courtyards I have stayed in. They push their so-called bistro which is over priced and lacks customer service. This is especially true in the morning. Due to my schedule I ate in the Bistro twice. I ordered breakfast - simple scrambled eggs and toast. It took an unusual amount of time to get it and that was only after I made a comment about how others who ordered after me (5 people by my count) got their food before me. Then they all the sudden hurried and got my food and asked me if I wanted it to go Everything in the bistro is way overpriced and they are unable to handle a crowd. The room is awkardly set up. The TV is diagonal to the bed so you have to lay on your side to watch TV and you have to sit up and kinda move to the end of the bed to have the remote work. The eye on the TV for the remote is partially covered by an armoire.
Now the positives. It is close to a range of public transportation. A plus in this city. It is not too far away from various restaurants and a movie theatre. It is also close to the highways if you are driving. The surrounding area is quiet and plenty of trees to see. This was beautiful during the fall season. No charge for parking at the hotel. Front desk is helpful. With the exception of my room location the hotel is generally quiet.
Overall, I would encourage you to take a few minutes and call around the various hotels to ensure you get the most for your money. There are many hotels to choose from in this immediate area.
Room Tip: Make sure you are not put near the gym or elevators for more quiet experience.
