“Perfect escape for a few days, far enough away from the outlet shops to have some peace and quiet.”
My wife and I got married in central Mass., and came up to Manchester for a quick mini-honeymoon for 2 nights. We picked the Ira Allen House based on some other great reviews, and we weren't disappointed. The House itself is a great little historic home with the feel of a comfy country inn - antique furniture and hand-hewn beams mixed in with kitschy hunting and fishing adornments. Maria, the innkeeper, really made the stay memorable by being so warm and welcoming and making sure that we had a good stay. She went above and beyond what we expected -- made reservations at hotels and even arranged for a masseuse to come give us massages in our room.
Breakfast was great: strong coffee and delicious omelets and french toast. The House is right on Route 7, so you get some noise from the road, but it is a beautiful spot right on the edge of the valley on the Battenkill River. It is only about 5 minutes or so from the center of Manchester, and just far enough to away from all the outlet stores to have a more rural feel.
We stayed in the Remember Baker Suite, which has a nice private back porch that also gives you easy access to the hot tub, which was great for a late-night dip.
