“Warm, friendly, cozy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Stayed with my fiance over New Year's weekend... his requirement was that we be near the slopes for skiing and that the room had a fireplace... he was right on both accounts, and Maria and the Ira Allen didn't disappoint at all! We had a fabulous weekend skiing (even though the weather didn't cooperate), and spent the coziest New Year's Eve in, watching the ball drop by a roaring fire in our room's fireplace! Breakfast was amazing, organic eggs, homemade french toast... and lots of tasty coffee. Maria was very warm and welcoming. As was Milo, the (female) cat! The rooms were country chic with that unique B&B feel that you can only get in one of these old historic buildings. We can't wait to come back. Thanks Maria!

Room Tip: remember baker suite was ours, were very happy with it

“Already booked a return visit!”

We were the fortunate winners of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce's Summer Escape which included two nights at The Ira Allen House. We stayed five and were sad to see our time in this warm, happy inn come to an end. Maria and Ed, the innkeepers; are great. They are so friendly with a deep knowledge of the area and with a love and respect of their beautiful, historic Inn. The wide plank floors and the enormous hand wrought wood beams in the inn are outstanding as are the delightfully decorated guest rooms. Maria's breakfasts were delicous and she was so willing to make a reservation, suggest a place to explore and knew how to make her guests feel welcomed. The Ira Allen House is just a few miles south of Manchester on historic Rt. 7A nestled in a lovely area. We highly recommend this gem!

Room Tip: The Remember Baker suite is wonderful. Decor is that of an Adirondack fishing lodge with working wo...

“Warm & friendly Inn & Innkeepers....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

Drove up on a rainy Friday afternoon. The Innkeeper Maria made dinner reservations for us at John's Table approx. 5 minutes down the road. Remember Baker suite was great. Warm & cozy, lit the fireplace both nights. Breakfast was great. Maria gave great suggestions as to how to structure our day. 10 minutes to the Manchester outlets, 20 minutes to the Vermont Country Store. Had a great time despite the less than optimal weather. Thanks Maria ! J.

“Perfect escape for a few days, far enough away from the outlet shops to have some peace and quiet.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2009

My wife and I got married in central Mass., and came up to Manchester for a quick mini-honeymoon for 2 nights. We picked the Ira Allen House based on some other great reviews, and we weren't disappointed. The House itself is a great little historic home with the feel of a comfy country inn - antique furniture and hand-hewn beams mixed in with kitschy hunting and fishing adornments. Maria, the innkeeper, really made the stay memorable by being so warm and welcoming and making sure that we had a good stay. She went above and beyond what we expected -- made reservations at hotels and even arranged for a masseuse to come give us massages in our room.

Breakfast was great: strong coffee and delicious omelets and french toast. The House is right on Route 7, so you get some noise from the road, but it is a beautiful spot right on the edge of the valley on the Battenkill River. It is only about 5 minutes or so from the center of Manchester, and just far enough to away from all the outlet stores to have a more rural feel.

We stayed in the Remember Baker Suite, which has a nice private back porch that also gives you easy access to the hot tub, which was great for a late-night dip.

“Absolutely Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2009

I just stayed at the inn with my boyfriend and the ambiance was amazing. The inn is beautiful and has a great historic feel, excellent decorating. We stayed in the Remember Baker suite, which was great. There was a woodburning fireplace and great amenities. Although we stayed in the winter there was also a deck off the back of the room that I'm sure is lovely during the summer months.

The inn-keeper Maria was fantastic. Her breakfast was great. The town of Manchester was only a few minutes away with great cafes and cute shops. I would definitely recommend this inn and I can't wait to stay again!
