“Best staff experience ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2011

A friend of mine and I stayed at Goldminer's Daughter last week for four nights and it was great. Very convenient location right next to the Collins lift, and good food at the inclusive breakfast and dinner. Also enjoyed the indoor hot tub, game room, and spa for a massage. The staff was the friendlest I've ever experienced, always willing to help with a caring attitude. Some other posts complain about the room you get for the money, but for a ski in/out, $350/night for a double including breakfast and dinner is good. If you find something better in Alta for less let me know!

“skier's delight and great hospitality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2011

just back from 4 day/4 night stay at GMD. Arrived on Monday (1/31) to 18" of fresh powder. GMD is PERFECT for the skier who is looking to ski a great mountain. First time to Alta and I love this place. High Traverse, Alf's Rustler, Supreme Chair are all great runs. The staff at GMD are great people, very friendly. Food was delicious. We had 6 degrees of separation our entire trip as we met new friends with close connections to existing friends. Karaoke night on Monday was a riot (the "Ticks" song).
Will be back.

“Unfair business practices”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2011

I booked a room for three nights only to find out the following day that I would have to change rooms after the first night. When I complained about the inconvenience they told me to find a room somewhere else. They were dishonest about the booking and inconsiderate on the phone. What a lousy way to do business. I will never book a room with them again.

It is not the intention of the Goldminer's Daughter Lodge to mislead people. This reservation was made online for President's Weekend. Each online reservation is reviewed by a front desk staff member. Upon reviewing the reservation it was discovered that while there was a room available for each night, it would not be the same room. Within 24 hours of the reservation and before a deposit was taken, the guest was contacted to ensure they would still like the reservation. Alta is a fabulous place, and our Reservationist offered the guest the opportunity to see if another of the Lodges in Alta could better accommodate his needs before either canceling the reservation with no penalty, or deciding to stay with us and experience a change in rooms (which is generally done while the guest is out skiing).
We are disappointed that the experience was not positive for this guest, and wanted to reiterate that this is not the intention of the Lodge.

“Some things never change...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2010

And that's a good thing. We're serious skiiers and we don't need a lot of fussy creature comforts. GMD provides the basics for expert skiiers who need to be close to the lifts, lots of rest and good, simple food. It's not about the hotel, it's all about the mountain. And GMD rises to that occasion. Regulars like us are treated like family or old friends. The decor hasn't changed since the seventies and we don't feel like we're paying for a lot of chinzy eye candy. We need a good massage, maybe a sauna, simple food and a good night's sleep. GMD delivers everytime because they've got a time tested formula for delivering the basics at a reasonable price. I'm reluctant to write this review because it may cause GMD to be sold-out when we want to book at the last minute.

“LOVE GOLDMINER'S!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 March 2010

Goldminer's was the perfect place to stay and ski at Alta. My dad and I absolutely love to ski and Goldminer's is the ideal lodge for people like us - those who want to get up, ski all day, effortlessly walk the few steps back to the room, and relax. The location is perfect, and the lodge has a ski shop downstairs, plus ski lockers so the whole ski-in/ski-out process is simple. One of the best parts of the lodge is the food - breakfast buffet with made-to-order omelets and fabulous pancakes! Afternoon tea and dinner are also delicious and we met some really interesting and nice people at one of the communal dinner tables one night (they also have private tables). The rooms are spacious - ours had a nice view of the snowfall. All the employees (especially the waiters at the restaurant) were extremely friendly and helpful. They remembered us night after night and gave my dad great advice about a shin injury. The staff are all very young and enthusiastic about their jobs. One disappointment was that the hot tubs were closed, and not likely to be available for a while. Overall, I loved Goldminer's and can't wait to return as soon as possible!!
