“Good location for exploring Austin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

On the south shore of river, with great views. Clean rooms, great customer service( mailed postcards for free; looked for a phone charger when I forgot mine). Caters more to the business than leisure traveler, but we found it very convenient to both South Congress and the downtown music scene. As for those with vertigo, face the door, not the glass walled elevator!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor, the interior atrium does make lobby noise travel. Full river view costs more...

“Open Concept and Bats?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Hotel was an average Hyatt property. Nice, clean, good location, but nothing spectacular. Was there for a business conference, so stayed 2 nights. If you are afraid of heights (and I am), may not be for you, due to the open-concept lay-out. Make sure to ask for a lower floor. Will be louder, unfortunately, but beats being scared to death trying to get to your room.

Staff was great, rooms were fine, but there was a bat (yes, a bat) flying around Monday night. We were having a drink reception on the 2nd floor and the bat was flying around diving at people. While it was funny to watch, I'm guessing having a bat flying around is a bit of a liability.

Other than that, stay was fine. Would stay there again if business dictated, but would likely try somewhere else for personal stay (but that is more about personal preference than flaws at the site).

Room Tip: Stay on a lower floor, or right by the elevator if you have a fear of heights.

“Beautiful view for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Staff was great, very responsive. Convenient to 6th ave and downtown Austin, rooms were nice and bed was comfy... Only one negative. The water took a very long time to get hot, it seems like a waste of water to run it a good 5 minutes (at least) before it was hot enough to shower. The view on the river side made the hotel VERY worth the wait for the hot water. I'd recommend for business and pleasure.

“Best Chain Hotel in Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

I've stayed at a bunch of hotels around Austin and I always come back to the Hyatt. Parking is more affordable than other hotels on the other side of the river, the views are spectacular, and it's right on the running trail around Lake Austin.

Room Tip: Get an upgrade to the side of the hotel with a river view,. 3rd floor has an open patio, and top fl...

“Not for people with vertigo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Very high quality hotel with nice restaurant/bar facilities. Happy hour 4-6 in bar.

Good but somewhat small gym, open 24/7.
Breakfast doesnt open until 6:30 which is late for hungry, jetlagged europeans.

Good location with good shopping within walking distance. (Don't miss Mellow Johnny's bike store on Neuce St.).

Charged 10USD per day for WIFI. So 1990's.

Free boarding card printing but business center was a disappointment,
charged me 14USD for simply printing a document.
