I traveled over from Scotland for the ACL festival this past September. Yes the rooms were a little old but as you can see from other reviews the hotel is being updated. The Suite was a great size 2 bedrooms and 2 baths . The maids were amazing and really looked after us. The rooms were clean !

The location is just perfect for both the festival and walking to the capitol or hanging out on 6th street etc. Its also 2 mins from the Bat Bridge .

The Breakfast staff were ace too the only downfall this hotel has is the breakfast times seems odd and finish early plus the lines for the food can be a bit off putting but the food was really good.

The Happy hour was alos amazing please tip the satff guys !!

The driver of courtesy shuttle was one of the nicest people I met on my trip and told us a lot about Austin. Would I stay again yes ...I am looking forward to seeing how they have updated the hotel :)

Went on 5 day family vacation to Austin with our two twenty something kids. Hotel has two bedroom suites - perfect! It was hard to find a hotel downtown that would allow 4 adults in a room. room was recently renovated and was beautiful - very nicely appointed. Hotel is right on Lady Bird Lake and we took a nice 1.5 hour walk around the lake one morning; lake is full of joggers, walkers, dogs, bicyclers on weekends.Location was midway between capital building downtown and South Congress area so perfectly located. Breakfast was fine - standard Embassy Suites fare but there was something for everyone including fruit and yogurt for those of us who wanted to eat healthy. Loved SOCO area - great shops and restaurants. Lots of great music in Austin - Continental Club, Saxon Pub, Elephant Room, and Red River/6th Street for the younger folks. Fabulous family vacation - cannot wait to go back! Great restaurants too. Could walk lots of places from this hotel except UT campus. We had a car and parking is $15 but most hotels downtown charge for parking.

Hotel is undergoing renovations, so that should be the biggest issue to be aware of.

Location is fantastic!

Asked about any issues at check in and was told that there would be no water from noon to 1:30pm and that they were experiencing occasional power outages during the day.

Clerk gave me one of the newly renovated rooms. Wow! What an incredible improvement over the old rooms! New sofa (sleeper, I assume), new decor, bathroom shower looked like a spa shower! Bed was just as comfy as before.

My issues with the stay were directly related to the construction. I had no hot water for about 12 hours - front desk told me to leave water running for up to 30 minutes, which I could not do in good conscience (but I also didn't believe her that it would work). Noise was going on during the day, but wasn't too bad - until the crews started using a power drill..

I've stayed at this property many times over the last several years and the positive is still positive (great hospitality crew working the breakfast line and happy hour) and the negative is still negative (parking garage is still creepy - but valet parking is available).

Looking forward to the completion of the renovation to eliminate the issues I encountered.

Also, would suggest adding more kids/cartoon channels to their TV lineup.

traveled with FOUR children, plenty of room. yes, the hotel is a bit aged, but clean and friendly staff. parking around the corner in the garage wasn't convenient, but the location of this hotel is perfect. walking distance to awesome restaurants, too. i would def stay here again.
