“Great Experience”

This is a very nice hotel although it is old, but that is part of the charm. It is in good condition and very well maintained, and you can't beat it for the price. Other nice hotels in Austin are more expensive. We love to stay here because you can walk over to Pappadeaux to eat. What really prompted me to write a review was the staff. They are wonderful! From the time we walked in the door until we left, they were so friendly and accommodating. I left a pillow there on our last trip and they were so kind to mail it to me. Thank you so much for finding and returning my pillow with the nice pillowcase! We will stay here every time we are able to make it to Austin.

Thanks for the great feedback, it is always very gratifying to read positive comments regarding our wonderful staff – prompt, friendly and anticipatory service has always been our focus and I am delighted that you had a chance to experience that firsthand.

Having Pappadeaux and Pappasitos restaurants on either side of the hotel is certainly very convenient; both restaurants are very popular with our guests.

“Service outstanding, facilities beautiful but a bit dated.”

The service here exceeds expectations. The hotel was obviously one of the nicest at one time, although the furnishings appear a bit dated now. Overall, very impressed with this one!

“Kudos to the great staff!”

The only reason I do not give this hotel a 5 rating is that it is in need of some maintenance but progress is being made. However the staff gets a 5! I love the staff here - they are special! Front desk and restaurant has some key folks who call me by name, treat me like I'm special and keep me coming back! Particular kudos go out to Mary Ellen, Soad, Matthew, John, Kygh and Laura. They are amazing people and this Doubletree is lucky to have them!

Thanks for the great feedback regarding your recent stay. We do feel very fortunate to have such outstanding employees at the hotel and I appreciate you taking the time to recognize them, I will be passing your comments along. We did a lot of work at the hotel in 2011 including the completion of our guestroom renovation project, new state of the art door locks, the replacement of desk chairs in our rooms, renovation of our fitness center and installation of 42” LCD televisions. We also have great plans for 2012 – In February, we will complete a renovation of our pool and pool deck will and we will also be installing a 50mbps internet circuit. We will be upgrading our restaurant and Lounge early in the year and later in 2012, we have plans to complete a lobby renovation.

We sincerely appreciate your loyalty to the Doubletree by Hilton Austin and look forward to welcoming you back in the very near future.

A nice hotel on the north side of Austin, and a Hilton property. There are plenty of dining options in proximity to the site. The staff is friendly and accurate. Breakfast is good at the hotel. There is a bar with a couple of televisions. The rooms on the fifth floor are roomy and nice, and well-kept. There is parking garage with convenient access to inner floors. At a guess, the hotel is a little older and needs a refresh, however, it is perfectly comfortable as it is as of 04-Jan-2012. Recommended.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the parking garage doors.

“great beds”

We stayed at this Doubletree in December for a family trip visiting friends and checking out the UT campus. We reserved two rooms and requested connecting rooms. During other trips elsewhere, we have not been successful in scoring the connecting rooms, but John working at the front desk helped us out this time. We even got to check in to one of the rooms at 10:30 AM!

Our rooms were on the outside, with windows facing the parking & freeway. However, the rooms were really quiet and large, but with very dated decor. Beds were extremely comfortable. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and the showers powerful. They were in the process of upgrading the TV's, so our last night we got the 42" LCD's to watch. The inner courtyard was very attractive with a pool and hot-tub.

Breakfast in the Courtyard Cafe was quite good and the service was very friendly. Fitness room was adequate, but was never crowded during our (off-season) visit. Garage parking was marked as $10/night; a bit much for this location. Location was good, but a bit tricky navigating the freeway access roads and traffic. Lots of restaurants nearby, which we didn't try on this trip.
