“Southwest Austin mid-priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

It is difficult to fina a mid-priced hotel on the Southwest side of Austin. This hotel was average as hotels go but surpasses similar priced hotels in other areas of Austin and seems much safer than many near downtown Austin. It is difficult to get to its location. The staff was very helpful and patient when I had to phone for better directions. The room was clean except around the baseboards in far corners. The major complaint is the noisy toilet which kept me awake the early part of the morning first by sounding like a freight train coming through the room. After 3 flushes it finally quieted down but was annoying in that it then had the running water sound the rest of the night. The hall carpet really needed cleaning but the room carpet and flooring was fairly new. The armchair had a hole in it. I will give this place another chance due to location.

“No Frills is right”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

We stayed here for three months when my new grand daughter was born and it was okay, nothing special to be sure. It was close to a lot of good restaurants and for extended stays like ours there were no city taxes collected which made the room a lot cheaper.
The room was clean and we only had one encounter with an insect during our stay (roach). If there had been others we would have complained but one we could deal with.
There is no pool, exercise room or anything else but a laundry. The staff were great and handled all our needs very well. Plenty of parking but due to its location you have to drive everywhere for safety sake. Just because of traffic concerns, not crime. The heating and A.C. worked well, T.V., phone and internet worked well also.
Overall I would stay here again if the rate was to my liking. It needs to be on the cheaper side because it is such a bare bones establishment.

“Decent for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2011

We stayed here while we were in Austin for a wedding. The price was great, the location was good- it was easy to get anywhere we wanted to go, and staff was very friendly.
We brought an airbed for our daughters to sleep on, so we could have a king bed, and the staff was happy to provide us with linens for it and extra pillows, which I thought was very nice.
There is a kitchenette with a full size fridge, 2 burner stovetop, microwave, 4 cup coffeepot, toaster and a kitchen sink. They only provide two sets of plates, glasses, and silverware, which I thought odd. Usually kitchenettes I've stayed in have service for 4. They provide one medium size pot and one frypan, but no spatulas or stirring spoons- which I also thought odd. Also, no bottle opener or cutting board- which again seems pretty standard to other kitchenettes.
No dishsoap is provided, but that's something easy to pick-up if you are planning on buying groceries, and for the price of the room, you can't really complain!
Also, be aware that there is no daily maid service- they only do a weekly clean for weekly stays. Again, not a big deal when you consider the price.
As far as sleeping goes, the bed was pretty hard and the walls were pretty thin. We did hear our neighbor talking very loudly late one night, but a call to the front desk fixed that.

Overall I'd say for a cheap place to stay it's not bad. However, I don't think it's well equipped for an "extended stay" if you plan on doing any sort of cooking!

“Good deal in a good part of town.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2010

We just got back from staying at this hotel. Husband and I planned a last minute trip to go to Austin to go out dancing with friends and see the city. I've been to Austin many times (lots of friends went to college at UT or ACC), but this was the first time not crashing on someone's couch/guest bedroom. So, i had no clue where in the city to stay. I asked my friends what part of town to stay in, but when i started to look around for hotels, EVERYTHING was booked, with the exception of rooms at downtown hotels (starting at $200 a night), as apparently there was a big game going on. The only options left were either places far away, in sketchier parts of town, and with really bad reviews. Normally, I could not care if it were just for a night, but we were bring pricey camera gear with us. After much deliberation, we picked this place.

I admit, it was a little hard to find, but not so terribly hard that it was a deterrent.(5 minute detour) The hotel is on this strange patch of land between 1 (mopac), 290, and 71. When we got inside, there was no lounge or anything, just a desk, with a very friendly young clerk who answered all our questions. There was no shampoo or hair dryers in the room, she said, but they still had them, as well as some other toiletries for free if you wanted them. Makes sense, since most people that are staying a long time might not want to use hotel shampoo for that long.

The hotel was nice, it was decent for some place of the price. Some parts of the hotel smelled like smoke, but its understandable, as there are smoking rooms. Our room, however, did not smell like smoke at all. It was clean and fairly spacious (about 500 sq ft maybe) for what it was, although some door radiuses were pretty tight. There was a 2 burner kitchenette stove, a nice deep sink, and utensils and cookware. We didn't use most of it, just a couple forks, when we realized that our takeout we'd gotten had no silverware included. The full size fridge was nice, as it fit the water jugs we keep in the car.

Overall, it was quiet, clean, and everything worked. It was about 5 minutes from anything, parks, 6th street, downtown, shopping. It wasn't fabulously fancy, more like a first apartment. I'm sure we will be back, maybe when there is not some game to drive the price up.

“Good accommodations at a good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2010

We have been staying at this hotel since April for a total of three and one half months and for the most part have enjoyed it. The hotel is bare bones with only a laundramat and some vending machines but if all you want is a safe, warm/cool place to rest your head this is the place for you.
The staff has bent over backwards to remedy any complaints we have had and there have been very few. I can't say enough about how well they have treated us.
The hotel is located in a nook on the Northwest corner of hwy. 290 and Mo-Pac boulevard and there is virtually anything under the sun within 5 to 10 minutes drive from here that you may want to see or eat.
The only complaints are: Beds too firm (personal choice), ill fitting sheets, slower than average high speed internet, to few channels on the TV and less than stellar cleaning by the maid service. Even those are really nothing to be concerned about. We have not seen or heard anthing like the complaints by others that have left negative feedback about this hotel and it is almost like they were written about some other place.
If you are staying for an extended period do not be afraid to bargain for the best rate you can get. And if possible do it in person and ask for a free upgrade to boot. The staff will work with you.
