This location is in the heart of Austin, which would have been a perfect site for visiting Austin on foot. It was raining and I was there to attend a class in the morning so I did not venture out. I was able to get the room on discount, and they knew it so I had a view of a tarmac roof, the backside of some buildings and I was not given a paper in the morning. That kind of frosted me. But there was a free paper in the hotel restaurant, so I got over it. The restaurant is OK. The prices are high, the description of the food is much better than the preparation. All of the service people were very friendly, but the doormen, engrossed in conversation, did not rush to help me with my heavy bag, but they did say hello. Perhaps I looked entirely capable! Another negative is that there is a wide open area in the center in which the sound travels. The air unit has to be on to cover the noise. It wasn't too bad on a Thursday night but could get loud on a football night or a wedding celebration, I imagine.

I arrived here exhausted from the strains of moving house, for my last night in Austin before moving on. I didn't actually experience the bed, having fallen into a deep sleep while on the sofa, which was quite comfortable. I did lie down on the bed the next morning, and it too felt comfortable. I liked everything about this place. The complimentary breakfast selection, while not vast, was high quality. I was left wondering where they got their bagels, which were the best I tasted in my decade living in Austin. (As an ex New Yorker of a certain age, my judgments on bagels should carry some weight). The fresh fruit was also excellent. Some of the room decor was sort of dated, reminiscent of the building's past as a less upscale hotel before becoming a Hyatt, but this did not bother me. My only complaint, a minor one, was that the bathroom was a little oddly configured. I kept on being startled by the sight of a strange-looking older guy in the full length mirror.

I loved this hotel and don´t know how they can turn a profit at the weekend rate I got on Expedia.

I had a room opposite the elevator and was worred about noise since this place is popular with families over the weekend but it was not a problem. Ditto with highway noise.

The room was large and modern with a huge high definition TV and neat sink bathroom combo. Breakfast was healthy with fruit, cereal, yoghurt and free. They have lots ow whoslesome snacks available day and night too and you can cook yourself in microwaves since they have a common kitchen everyone can use. WIFI is free and fast and they have two computers downstairs anyone can use as well.

The staff are awesome. They can´t do enough to help you. The Brazilian manager, Andre, even drove me himself in the shuttle to shop for a phone since my old one broke. Note, that this place is a $20 cab ride to Downtown though. But for the price, worth it. There is a decent Italian next door and the best cinema showing independent films within walking distance.

Great place!

This hotel had its pros and cons. Overall, the hotel was comfortable, but I would choose somewhere else to stay next time.

Pros
Great service. All the staff were friendly and very nice to deal with.
Good size room. Mine had a fold-out couch, along with the standard desk, refrigerator with sink and wide-screen television with multiple computer inputs and jacks. Free wifi is available, but I didn't use it so I don't know how well it works.
The hotel is right next to I-35, making it easy to get on the highway, heading south.

Cons
The hotel property had an old feel to it with upgrades covering up the older features.
Elevators - looked original, from the 1970s
Walls & Adjoining Doors were very thin. The neighbor's alarm went off at 4:00 a.m., and we could hear every alarm beep. Then we heard their complete conversations as they woke up and prepared for the day.
Could hear the highway traffic, even with the windows closed.
Right next to I-35 and if you have to head north, you have head south first and then figure out which turnaround roads to take to head north.
The free continental breakfast had limited options.

I booked the hotel not realizing it's a little out of the way of town, but we had rented a car for our time in Texas (took a 2 day jaunt to San Antonio) so 10 min. ride was not bad. The hotel was very roomy with 2 queen beds and a double sofa bed in a separate sitting area. Great for a couple with 3 kids. The free breakfast was simple, but had everything we normally eat at home and the menu of 24 hour available food (with no room service fees) was great. It was just like being at home when one of the kids wants something to eat at 10pm and they could just go to the lobby and order it. That was convenient. I thought the bed was one of the best I have ever slept in. No back ache as I usually have. Staff was very helpful and everything was clean and neat.
Great deal for the price. Left us extra money to spend elsewhere.
Parking is free. Nice pool, but weather was too cool to use. A small neat work out room and a business area with 2 computers if you don't bring your own (free internet service if you do.) Our flight was cancelled later in the week so we actually drove back there to spend the extra night.

  • Liked — All the amenities
  • Disliked — just a tad too far from town
