This used to be my go-to hotel for staying near downtown Austin without paying a fortune, but my last couple visits have grossed me out. Smelly rooms. Bugs in the bathroom. They never send a maid unless you beg them. Just run-down feeling and paying $140 a night for this place is just insane -- regardless of where it is.

Homestead studio hotel is one of the best places I have stayed. The biggest advantage of staying in this hotel is that its in downtown and very near to the beautiful lake. Staff is also very nice. They have big parking area so you are never short of parking and never in hurry to park! If you are planning to visit austin in July/ Nov then this is the best place to see fireworks and enjoy the fun of festivals. most of attractions are near by.

I tried to stay with my family for the weekend. After Friday night our floor smelled horrible and was covered in beef jerky trash. I go out with my family in the morning and 4 men share the elevator with us. Luckily they stopped talking about strip clubs long enough to race and see who could "pound" a four loko the fastest. We checked out a night early and went to stay with my mother-in-law.

Nice studio apt. conveniently located to downtown with good dining/bar options within walking and taxi distance.
