“Still a Great Choice in North Austin!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2011

It has been about a year since I traveled to Austin on a regular basis for work. I recently started again, and right away thought to come back to this location. Several years after it opened it is still a great choice. It is still spotless.

Upon pulling into the parking lot you can tell that the hotel is well maintained. The hotel is in a mixed use Hotel / Office complex with several hotels, a 24 hour fitness, and an office building. The lobby is in great condition and very welcoming. On the first floor is the breakfast and dinner restaurant / bar. Also there is a very nice business center with two PC's, a copier, printer, etc. There is also a guest laundry facility, nice swimming pool, and hot tub. The staff was very welcoming, and the breakfast was well prepared.

There is an adequate exercise room, though I was very surprised that it lacked an exercise bicycle. There are two treadmills, an elliptical, and some weights. The equipment does have TV's built into them, which is nice. The real bonus at this hotel from the standpoint of exercise is the 3/4 mile pea gravel and cobble path that winds around a retaining pond with nice trees, water grass, park benches, lights, etc.. I go out and do runs on the path and while it was not Town Lake it was still great and it was right out the back door of the hotel!

My room was a typical King room with a nice work desk, ergonomic chair, sleep number bed, (I am not a fan of the sleep number, but thats a different conversation), some have a sleeper sofa and alll have shower. If a bathtub is important to you, you may want to inquire with the hotel, as the room was in only had a shower. (which I actually prefer.) Rooms have a microwave and refrigerator and a comfortable climate control system. Room was spotless, smelled fresh and had nice pillows, though I had to ask for a foam pillow they found me one quickly. The curtains do an excellent job of blocking out light, the climate control works well and teh AC blower can be left on for white noise. The rooms have nice LCD TV's and an acceptable numbe of channels.

The cookies in the evening were a nice touch and the breakfast was well done....free for gold or diamond members, something like $12 for others.

“Always good value – But what’s up with calling this a B&B/Inn”

No matter where I travel, the Hilton Garden Inns are reasonably priced and always exceed my expectations. This hotel is conveniently located on I-35, but it can be tricky pulling off the feeder (going downhill) into the hotel parking lot. I appreciate the fact that there is bar in the lobby that is open until 10pm. The room was clean, the glass enclosed shower was large and there was plenty of counter space. I did have a problem with the temperature control in the room – but other than that, it was a very nice stay.

“Always my place in N. Austin”

This is a normal place for me to stay when I travel to N. Austin, Round Rock or Georgetown. The staff there is always friendly and very accommodating. The breakfast is great...free if you are Hilton Gold or Plat....11.95 for full breakfast or less if you do the cold items. Bar on-site is staffed with friendly bartenders. Evening dinner is usually really good, but seems to have lost that touch since their Chef Charmain left. Beds are adjustable and very comfortable. I will always stay here when working in the area.

“Issues with Day Manager ruined stay.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2010

We traveled from the Hilton Garden Inn (HGI) at Irving Tx where we set up and had our annual conference. We had such good service and accomodations in Irving, we decided to book the Garden Inn in Austin North at a special rate for pleasure. When we arrived at the HGI Austin North, the Day Manager (Silas) greeted us and located our reservation. Silas said we needed a "Passport" for the special rate and my wife said we are Americans and don't have passports. He continued to ask for the passport until the third time when he finally explained to us it is not the world travel passports he needs but the Hilton Passport for the special rate. We did not know what this was since the HGI in Irving booked for us. We asked him to contact our Irving HGI Sales Manager who set up our conference to sort this out and he handed us the phone to do it ourselves. I thought that was poor service and I walked away while my wife made the call. We finally got it straightened out with a fax and he checked us in (about 3;30 PM) but we were very disappointed with Silas' service. We did not feel welcomed there like we were at the Irving HGI. From the reviews, below I saw some rates as low as $50 but ours was at $79. We were not trying to cheat anybody.

My wife was so upset with the unwelcomed entry, that we eventually decided to check out and move to the Drury Inn North hotel a few miles down the road. When we checked out (about 5:45 PM), Silas charged us for a night stay since we were there over three hours (barely). My wife was pleading with him not to charge us but Silas was sticking to his decision. Since he was the manager, there was no one else to plead with. I left in such disgust and thought Silas was less than helpful or interested with us being his guests. It is amazing how one employee can influence guests to either love the HGI or never use them again. I choose to never use them again due to Silas' non-compasionate attitude. By the way, we stayed at the Drury Inn North four additional days and they exceeded our expectations. It was worth the extra expense to make our trip more enjoyable.

“PERFECT stay..yes...Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2010

My husband and I spent the weekend in Austin for our anniversary. We are SO glad we chose this hotel, for every reason in the book! We enjoyed the city and Lake Travis, and just thought our hotel would be "home base" and no more. The staff, cleanliness, comfort ,and breakfast made this More than just a place to stay in between fun activities!
I had called to ask if we could be on a higher floor of the hotel, the day before our arrival. Not only did Eddie, the front manager do that, he and the staff made sure we enjoyed our specail day, by leaving us a very much appreciated gift in our room. We returned to a very nice treat, after an evening enjoying the outdoor restaurants and bars in the 6th Street area. We faced a small lagoon filled with lily pads and flowers, and the hotel was very quiet for sleeping, even late in the morning.
The rooms are spacious and the bedding is very comfy! Very nice glass shower, and you can tell the property is new--but that shows the care of the staff; as the hotel looks brand new, but is actually two years old! Our room rate included a cooked to order breakfast, and we enjoyed fresh coffee, perfectly cooked eggs and bacon, each day, along with the many buffet items that were included, as well. The young ladies that work and cook in the food area are very sweet and helpful Everything is beautifully presented, as with everything at the HGI!
The pool is smaller, but very well maintained, there is a spa, and the business center has 2 quick computers and a great printer.
Whether for business or pleasure, we plan to stay at this HGI again! Location was great, too; easy to get to all major roads, and the bypasses and highways that move you easily through Austin. We can't wait to go back!
