We stayed here on New Year's Eve. The location was absolutely perfect for hitting Sixth Street! The room was good and the breakfast was excellent. We did not the outdoor pool - it was very small and exposed. Overall, I would recommend the hotel if you want to experience Austin's nightlife.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!

My wife and I were visiting for a nice weekend away... that didn't happen.

This was probably the worst experiance I've had at a hotel. If you're into a college frat house experience, then this is the place for you. The hotel was overrun by drunk college kids who yelled all night (FYI, this was NOT Spring Break or other "party" weekend.). They banged their doors, on the walls, screamed at each other in drunken stupors and made life generally hell for everyone else in the hotel.

The first night, AT 3:30 IN THE MORNING, one of them pulled a fire extinguisher and began spraying it which set off the fire alarm. This caused the entire hotel to have to be evacuated while the fire department came to check it out. We had to walk down SEVENTEEN flights of stairs because of these idiots. The doors from the fire escape were not marked so we had no no way to know when we reached the lobby and had to check each floor to see where we were. When we got to the lobby, no one was checking who we were or what room; nothing. Keep in mind at this point, we still did not know why the fire alarm was going off. The "manager" on duty didn't even know where the keys were for the fire fighters when they arrived. This was a total cluster you-know-what.

The next night... same thing minus the fire alarm but this time, the power went out and all of the drunk and rowdy kids came out into the hallway to scream about it to one another at approximately 2:00 in the morning. This, all while they were stumbling in drunk from 6th street acting the same as the night before.

AT NO POINT did I ever see a security presence to control or monitor their behavior despite the fact that we had notified the front desk twice about rowdy behavior.

In addition to all of this, our roomed reeked of cigarette smoke despite this being a non-smoking room/hotel, housekeeping never showed up to make up our room and at no time has Hilton attempted to make up for ruining our trip. They just laughed about it with a kids-will-be-kids attitude... well, that doesn't cut it when I'm shelling out the money.

Bottom line: This hotel was a disgrace to the Hilton name.

I've stayed here several times, always good overall, but this time everything was perfect, from the service (valet. Front desk,housekeeping, to the rooms)

Add that to the location and this is a great place to stay!

Was a little concerned as we approached the hotel is right off the freeway, but actually very decent place. Newly renovated spacious rooms, prime downtown location, friendly staff and a good view of the Capitol. If you get a good rate here, it's worth it.
