That's what you're getting when you stay at this Austin institution. The room is clean and BASIC. When I called to make the reservation (no online reservation system)-I asked if there was a coffee maker in the room since I didn't see that on the list of amenities (and I'm a caffeine addict/fiend) and was told "no". No problem-we just toted along our Kuerig. Better tote along your box of tissue, shampoo, soft towels and iron/ironing board if you want-that's not there either. As I said before the room was clean and really all we needed. The Snack Bar restaurant is next to the lobby and EXCELLENT. We were able to park right outside our door and there's no parking charge. The place was pretty quiet, except for our heavy footed upstairs neighbor. I recommend this place and we will stay here again. If you decide to stay here just remember that you're paying for location, funkiness and as the card on the back of the hotel room door says "an old fashioned motel experience". Just bring along any necessities you can't live without.

Our room was decorated southwestern. Clean, basic and comfortable. We found staff to be very friendly. The maid went out of her way for us. Restaurants and shops walking distance. We would return.

We have been there with family from italy, the place is basic, not really clean but for 1 night is ok. Great location and restaurant choice around is great. I would go back if in need.

For a first-time visitor, this motel was heaven. Fun, artful, very friendly helpful staff, perfect location! We stayed in two rooms: 262 and 117. Both were clean and comfortable. The place was booked for the NYE weekend, but the manager found us a great room to extend our stay. First come, first serve.

The motel is right next to Jo's coffee house, a favorite in Austin for great coffee and just hanging out. Amy's ice cream is across the street along with The Cosmopolitan Club for great blues. Many of the restaurants offer live music, so leave your car at the motel and walk down S. Congress Ave to enjoy Austin at its best.
