I bought a Groupon that was just an amazing price for a "boutique hotel." Vintage Villas is on gorgeous grounds next to the lake. It makes a great wedding venue and all of the ideas and potential are there but some things fell short.
The staff is amazingly friendly and very helpful. Tom, the owner, really goes above and beyond to make sure that your stay is awesome.
The room has all of the expected amenities, awesome bath products, great Wolfgang Puck coffee, and I always LOVE a luxurious big bath in bathrooms and the jacuzzi tub was just perfect. The shower, however, being big and tiled and seemingly pretty was worn down and had cracks and mold in a few places. It just seems that this trend of little things seems to extend throughout the room. It needs a facelift and deep scrub to make it a true boutique hotel.
For instance, the bed is a beautiful king bed, but could use a mattress topper or maybe a new mattress as it's just a bit too firm and old so the springs are a bit out of sorts. The pillows are a nice idea, being made of down and fluffy, but they have absolutely zero support and I woke up with a neck ache. The balcony is a terrific feature, but there's no light on the balcony, even though there was a socket, just no light bulb, so we couldn't enjoy the balcony the night we stayed, which is where I wanted us to enjoy our dinner I'd brought to the room for us. The vintage feel is great, we loved reading the 1927 Encyclopedia. The room just needs a bit of an update to be luxurious.
The breakfast was top notch and certainly worthy of the praise that it receives. There is just so much amazing potential that needs to be tapped here and I feel that if there was even a minor renovation that this hotel would not only be justified in charging the price it does (at the Groupon price this stay was completely worth it, but at the regular price I don't think it would have been at all), but could possibly be a flourishing destination hotel.
Please do us and you a favor and undertake these suggestions, because you have the makings of a fine hotel about you.
