“Very Nice Quiet Stay with a few Improvements Needed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I bought a Groupon that was just an amazing price for a "boutique hotel." Vintage Villas is on gorgeous grounds next to the lake. It makes a great wedding venue and all of the ideas and potential are there but some things fell short.

The staff is amazingly friendly and very helpful. Tom, the owner, really goes above and beyond to make sure that your stay is awesome.

The room has all of the expected amenities, awesome bath products, great Wolfgang Puck coffee, and I always LOVE a luxurious big bath in bathrooms and the jacuzzi tub was just perfect. The shower, however, being big and tiled and seemingly pretty was worn down and had cracks and mold in a few places. It just seems that this trend of little things seems to extend throughout the room. It needs a facelift and deep scrub to make it a true boutique hotel.

For instance, the bed is a beautiful king bed, but could use a mattress topper or maybe a new mattress as it's just a bit too firm and old so the springs are a bit out of sorts. The pillows are a nice idea, being made of down and fluffy, but they have absolutely zero support and I woke up with a neck ache. The balcony is a terrific feature, but there's no light on the balcony, even though there was a socket, just no light bulb, so we couldn't enjoy the balcony the night we stayed, which is where I wanted us to enjoy our dinner I'd brought to the room for us. The vintage feel is great, we loved reading the 1927 Encyclopedia. The room just needs a bit of an update to be luxurious.

The breakfast was top notch and certainly worthy of the praise that it receives. There is just so much amazing potential that needs to be tapped here and I feel that if there was even a minor renovation that this hotel would not only be justified in charging the price it does (at the Groupon price this stay was completely worth it, but at the regular price I don't think it would have been at all), but could possibly be a flourishing destination hotel.

Please do us and you a favor and undertake these suggestions, because you have the makings of a fine hotel about you.

Alainndeoir,

Thank you very much for your purchasing a Groupon and being a guest at Vintage Villas Hotel & Events. I truly appreciate your comments and your rating of "very good". Sleep comfort is unique to every individual. We purchase top-of-the-line-hotel supplies. We have soft fluffy feather pillows as well as firmer foam pillows. The brand of our beds is Sealy Palatial Crest Ultra Plush Eurotop. If you are someone who prefers soft to hard or vise versa when it comes to sleep comfort, please let us know and we will do our best to insure a comfortable nights rest.

“Great Location, Neat Property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

This hotel has an awesome view of Lake Travis from every room. There are three main buildings, each with themed furnishings. Each building is named, and we stayed in the South Texas building. Each room has a town/city name from South Texas. The furnishings are chic rustic and the room was spotless. Great area. The buffet breakfast was delicious and satisfying.

“Just a relaxing vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I had a great time at this place. We stayed in South Texas on 3rd floor, King room, corner room. It was amazing. Though the lake was nothing much (cuz it was winter), but the room made up for that. My bf and I just left the room for food, rented movies. Big bathtub and nice balcony for morning coffee. I will definitely go back there again. It was no 5 stars hotel, more like a lovely relaxing local hotel. LOVE IT!

Room Tip: The place is kinda far outta town. Great for relaxing and nature. Not a place for you if you love ni...

“Great view - not so great rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

The view from the third floor room where we stayed was beautiful - overlooking Lake Travis (even though it has dried up considerably with the drought). The breakfast that was included was also great, but the building and the hotel rooms were kind of old - you could already suspect that just going up and looking at the stairs; the bed was dusty because when I got on the bed I could see all the dust particles that flew into the air. They could probably use a new interior designer because the look and color of the rooms didn't work too well. The two couches in the room also looked worn. I am glad I got a groupon because it's not worth paying $200+ to stay here.

Thank you very much for your evaluation and for purchasing a Groupon. I appreciate the comments about he beautiful view and the great breakfast. We are always purchasing new furnishings for the hotel that compliment our unique boutique hill country style. We opened in 1996 and had our last full renovation in 2005.

Thank you for choosing to stay at Vintage Villas and for purchasing a Groupon,

“Not what we expected!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

First we were given room keys to s room that was already occupied! Imagine our surprise when we opened the door and a guy came running at us! Secondly there is construction going on right next door. Waking up at 7 am to drilling and hammering is not my idea of a vacation. Rooms are very run down. Disappointed to say the least.
