“I was happy, but then again, I don't expect much.”

I stayed at this hotel as a forced R&R break from my doctoral studies. It is less than 1/4 mile from my home and I was drawn to the lobby with the pool that went both indoors and out (something I saw when having a renter come sign a lease there, because it is a prominent location).

It is themed towards pilots and aviators (obviously) and wants to be a Holiday Inn but is far too musty/musky. I think this is because some rooms allow smoking and it permeates the hotel. Although the ambiance says "nice hotel"- they will not bring things to your room like a nice hotel nor was there a bellhop.

The standard room, however, was well-priced and friggin' HUGE! I had a patio, a couch, a coffee table and king size bed for less than $79/night (I negotiated downward from the typical $79 walk-in rate). I am attaching the picture I uploaded to Facebook. The bed was a marshmellowy delight and my car was conveniently parked next to the room, through an exit that required a key, so it was both convenient but SAFE.

Overall, my stay acheived its purpose of making me rest in a nice space and a nice price. Families will be pleased.

Room Tip: Patios on the bottom floor!

“Great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

My husband and I stayed at the hotel on the 23rd and 24th of Nov. The hotel itself was a little out dated and could use some updates. But, the hotel staff was the best. When I spoke with Shelly to make the reservation she told me all about the Thanksgiving dinner and also the coach to the cowboys stadium. When I said I had bought tickets for my husband for his birthday she had but a happy birthday to him on the big screen tv in the lobby. Even though the rooms could use some updates they were very clean. We will stay there again. I would like to THANK everyone on the front desk , and a special thank you to Shelly.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 2nd floor and it was very quite.

“FILTHY”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

The room was filthy. Pee under the toilet seat, used bars of soap in the shower and hair, etc. on the floor. Refrigerator was not on and smelled mildewy. When maid came up to rectify the problem, she pretended to spray the seat (sprayer broken) and then wiped it with a dry cloth, and she was prodded to spray for real, sweep, etc. When maid called up a second time to clean the filthy/smudged light switch plate, she used a bar of soap, saying they weren't allowed to use disinfectant. In addition to the filth, I found little knat-like bugs in the bathroom and on a garment in my own clothes bag! The front desk attendants were apathetic, although they did call the maid(s) up, and you could tell they'd been through this drill before. Since leaving, the front desk attendants will not reveal the owner's name.

We consider ourselves very fair-minded peope, but this hotel was the limit! You will regret staying here, unless you don't mind the above.

Fair S,
It was a pleasure speaking with you yesterday about your experience at the Admiral Hotel. I do again apologize that you were checked into a room that should not have been marked as available for occupancy. The room was not fully cleaned from the previous guest. I know that we offered to move your room but you already had your belongings in the room and did not want to move. Housekeeping was then sent to the room to address your concerns. As far as your interaction with the room attendant, that matter was discussed yesterday. We have policy's and procedures in place to avoid this type of situation. It appears in your case something slipped through the cracks. Mistakes sometimes happen and I take responsibility for those mistakes. A satisfactory resolution was reached yesterday. Thank you again for your communication. We look forward to your next stay at the Admiral so we can show you the service we are proud of. Please call me directly to book your next stay with us.

Thanks again.

“Desperately in need of remodel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011 via mobile

Our family of four chose this hotel due to its proximity to Six Flags Over Texas. Wish we would have chosen a different hotel. We arrived on a Friday night and the lobby was full of rowdy, noisy, drinking adults as well as a live band in celebration of a game at the Dallas Stadium the next day. We went to our room and were immediately disappointed by the decor and extremely small beds (two doubles.) We went from there to the pools, of which there are three. The pools were definately the only positive about this hotel. However, we didnt stay there long due to the overspill of the adults from the party scene in the lobby.

The worst part of this place was the beds. We all slept horribly as it was like sleeping on a sheet of plywood. They were ridiculously firm. And then we decided to give up on the beds and got up at 6:00 am to try the hotel breakfast, we were diaappointed again to learn there is no breakfast. The hotel staff directed us to the "restaurant" in the hotel. Which was actually just the bar where the patrons were partying the night before. We fell for it. And ended up paying $40 for the worst excuse for a breakfast buffet we have ever seen. It dd include your choice of orange or apple juice, however, they were in bar pitchers that even our 12 year old recognized had not been washed from the night before and now had a juice/beer mixture. Uggggh. This place was TERRIBLE!!!!
