“Only thing going for it is location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Thank heavens the Hogs won the Cotton Bowl and made the lodging bearable. Old, worn out everything, and apparently the waffle irons in the chow hall can burn batter, as proved by the fire alarms going off at six a.m. the morning after the Cotton Bowl. Had to get a smoking room, as trip was sort of last minute, and I think the Marlboro man stayed there before us. Now smokers, I knew what my wife and I was getting into, but at least the staff could've aired out the room as I told them we were non-smokers. Staff was there, not friendly, just there. Maybe its the culture of the folks who run it, I don't know, but they won't be winning any hospitality awards. Alas, the location makes it a lodge worthy of staying at, especially if going to cowboy stadium. Its about a mile and a half from Jerry's World, and we walked it as the temps were 72 that day, but if so inclined, a cab was about $6/person and the arlington trolley stops at the hotel and runs to different area attractions(six flags, texas rangers). Also, the rickshaws that run by the stadium will peddle you back to this establishment for $20, or whatever you can haggle to. Overall, I would only stay here again on a last minute necessity.

Room Tip: Book early, or go somewhere else if you want hospitality.

“Average stay close to the stadiums”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

Stayed here twice. It's pretty close to the Cowboys and Rangers stadiums. Booked on travelocity as a 3 star hotel. I would say it is more of a 2 star hotel. It is older and the rooms are a little small. Overall it was a comfortable stay. It is within walking distance of Humperdinks, a local bar and grill where you can drown your Cowboys sorrows. Cleanliness: 6 out of 10. Floor was a little stained. Wall scuffed. Dingy looking towels. Some hairs in the shower. Service: 8 out of 10. First stay front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. Second time, different guy, not as good. They offer breakfast but unsure if it's hot or just the Continental. Coffee in room. T.V. not flat screen. Close to freeway.

“Great location, not well maintained”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

We stayed at this property because of its proximity to the Ballpark in Arlington during the 2011 ALCS playoffs. First the good -- it is on the trolly line to the Ballpark, which is very helpful. It is also favorably located for anyone wanting to go to that venue, or to Six Flags, or Cowboys stadium. The price was also not too bad, considering that several other properties raised their prices for the playoffs and concert that was going on at Cowboys stadium that weekend. Finally, it was pretty quiet at night. That is pretty much it for the good. There was a lot to not like about this property. First, it appears very dated. I suspect that the owners (it is a Wyndham property, I believe) are selling out enough rooms that they are not worried about fixing it up. The carpet is old, the fixtures are old, etc. You get the picture. Second, our room was not very clean. There was hair in both the sink and tub making us believe that the bathroom facilities had not been cleaned, or at least not cleaned well. That gets you suspicious about hotel room in general. When we looked at the beds, there were a few hairs on the sheets. Not a whole lot, but a few. This could have just come from one of us, I suppose, but I doubt it. When you find something like the sinks not clean, you just don't trust much of the rest of the room as far as cleaning goes. Third, the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night on our second night in the room. The front desk later explained that it was an equipment communications issue. I suspect that this also happens at nicer hotels on occasion also, but I'll bet it happens a lot more to ones like this. While I did not need it, an apology from the front desk when I called to find out if it was safe when the alarms went off would have been nice. Fourth, the rooms have refrigerators, but they appear (that is what the front desk explained, not from any mechanical thing on the refrigerator) to be on some sort of timer and don't work very well. Fifth, and this is not there fault, there is a lot of construction going on around this hotel so it can be very difficult to get to. Sixth, they offered my brother a ride from the airport, but told him that he was out of luck as far as getting back - not even remotely friendly about it either. Seventh, beds were not comfortable. Eighth, faucet leaked. There was more issues, but you get the picture. In short, you can do better, and should. There are lots of properties around this area that are nicer.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere.

“A Fair Deal-Great Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

This hotel was booked "secretly" through a travel website and advertised as a 3 star property. Though if one were to go strictly by the letter of the law, so to speak, it might have been, in reality it was not. Maybe a 2.5, not a 3.
Its biggest plus by far is location. An easy drive/shuttle to either Rangers Ballbark or Cowboys Stadium.
I had called after booking to confirm details and was told that the city trolley would be picking up at the hotel and dropping off at Cowboys Stadium(we were in town for a concert there), as well as the hotel van doing the same. Upon arrival we were informed that niether was. Through some ingenuity, we secured a shuttle ride based out of a hotel that is across the rear parking lot.
The rooms are tiny. We were there with our two daughters for a two night stay and were we there any longer, we would have gone crazy stepping over each other.
It is an older property that has been reasonably kept though it is a bit rough around the edges.
The furniture has seen better days and the carpeting as well.
An adequate breakfast was offered though only from 6am to 9am. At 9:01am, it is shut down and cleared out! I would think that keeping it open until 10am on the weekend would be more hospitable to guests.
Would we stay here again for a short stay? Yes.
Would we stay here again for anything longer? No.
Reccomend it? Sorta.

“It was bug free, towel free, and missing lots more!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

The room was very small and compact. We checked in, and it was missing all the towels, no toiletries or anything else. None of the house keeping speaks any English. But other than that, it was clean and appeared to be bug-free. It has a very large refrigerator in the room. The pool was nice, and very quite. My kids found the vending machine to be well stocked and quite reasonable, even the drinks were reasonable. The 'free" continental breakfast, was very little, and not much was provided, you had to be quick and early. If you need INTERNET, bring your own. This place has the slowest internet. It was like using dial-up. The tv is old style, but it did have several more channels. As for being close to Six-Flags, it was within walking distance and close to other things. The plumbing in the sink was stopped up somewhere as it smelled like sewage when you ran the hot water, but it was coming from the drain, not the water. It wasn't bad for the price paid, and it was ok considering everything else was booked due to the LSU game, we might consider it if in need of a room.

Room Tip: Definatly check for towels and anything else before house keeping leaves.
