First I'd like to address the post on Jan 12 about the rooms & traffic. It clearly states on the website, and they will tell you on the phone that there are two rates on the rooms. Standard & Deluxe. Standard has NOT been updated yet, and Deluxe has. There is about a $20 difference per night between updated and old rooms. I strongly suggest you pay extra- it's a huge difference. So far as the road construction goes, it's hardly the fault of the hotel, and really wasn't that big of an issue in March 2011- you simply had to do a uturn on the bridge to the north of the property to get back on the highway in either direction.
Our stay was in March 2011- with a youth group in town for an international convention. I was very happy with the rooms (deluxe)- the tv was a huge flat screen. I had asked to face 6Flags and my entire group of rooms did. The air worked great, the bathroom was very nice with a separate vanity area. The food on the breakfast spread was comparable to what we had at the Hyatt Place where we had stayed the year prior for a Rangers game.
There is a little shop area for souvenirs or food, vending machines and a business area. The lobby area is jaw droppingly beautiful. The kids in my group LOVED and RAVED about the indoor pool (which I wish would be redone) and the gym equipment. The kids are hoping the racquetball areas are open this year because they want to stay again this March.
The cons:
1) the road construction makes finding it the first time hairy if you're not familiar w/ the area- but hardly the hotels fault.
2) the pool area is outdated and imo needs to be warmer in the water. one party in my group had an issue at check out with their credit card, but it was eventually fixed.
3) there were shuttle vans but none were running as they did not at the time have a driver- would have been really nice to have transport to and from six flags and not have had to pay $20 to park.
WE WILL BE BACK! :)
