“Worst Place Ever!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

We only stayed here while passing by, but couldn't get out of there soon enough. Room smelled like death, sheets so old you could see through them, pillows very thin, and a gap of about an inch and a half between bottom of door and floor, I'm sure that's how all the bugs get in. We placed a rolled up towel under the door. Even though we were driving for 26 hours we didn't want to take showers there, bathroom and bathtub looked disgusting. No amenities, like soap, or shampoo.

Even if you're only staying here to sleep.......DON'T!!

Dear Guest-
We always like to get feedback from our guests and appreciate it if brought to the front desk while they are still at the hotel so that we can attempt to providing a quick and instant solution. I am surprised by your comments as we just finished renovating all of our rooms. If you would have called the front desk, the clerk would have gladly moved you to another room that was more acceptable to you. Thank you again for your comments.

Sincerely,

“It could be worse”

There was a cobweb in one corner, some strange discoloration on the walls--but if you're coming here just to crash it doesn't matter. If you keep the room minimally lit it's fine. I've had better at this price, and I've had worse (MUCH worse).

Oh--the trash from the previous guest was left. At least the sheets were clean.

“Nightmare!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

Roaches in the bath room! No internet access in the room, only internet access is in the lobby. Breakfast closed at 9am, not regular 10am. Front desk manager has no smiling face and was nasty! When you check in, read everything posted on the front desk counter. Ask everything clearly before you book this hotel!

Room Tip: Stay away!

“Take a shower with a cockroach”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

Not only were there were dog crapolla stains on the carpet, but there were dead cockroaches in the bathroom. The linens were torn, and there was debris in almost every corner of the room. They must be hiring local illegal immigrants to clean the place up, as it seemed as If I was staying in a 3rd World Country.

I wouldn't allow my Goldfish to stay at this Hotel, let alone my kids or my family. God forbid, they may have gotten bit by rats and cockroaches and been taken captive for ransom.

Room Tip: Sleep outside in your car. You'll save yourself not only the money, but peace of mind.

“Not too bad for a hotel in this price range”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

In contrast to some of the other reviews, we found this place mostly exceeded expectations.

Pluses:
-Free hot breakfast: eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, cereal. Granted the eggs & sausage were the microwavable kind, but it was still a pleasant surprise. Not many motels in this price range offer a hot breakfast.
-Nice spacious lobby is a change from most motels and gives more of a 'hotel' feel. We enjoyed not having to sit directly in front of the front desk to have coffee as you do in many other motels.
-Nearby Gold's gym access is included. I didn't make use of it this time, but definitely would if I didn't have to get on the road right away.
-Rooms were a good size.
-Paint & carpet in the room looked relatively recent.
-Cleanliness seemed okay.

Minuses:
-Room (furnishings, fixtures) was a bit dated.
-Pillows need replacement.
-WiFi was not working when we stayed. Fortunately I brought my own mobile internet.
-They ran out of biscuits for breakfast. Front desk staff apologised for this.

Only negative experience I had with staff was when I asked the front desk person if they could turn the TV down while we ate breakfast. I was quite taken aback when she refused, saying it had to stay on and at that level. No one was watching the television so there was no reason not to turn the volume down at least while we were there having breakfast. I know that some places feel that guests demand that TV be blaring in the background, but why not comply with a reasonable request from a guest? (Btw. I noted this incident in the Travelodge online survey that I filled out.)

This motel, like many others in the lower price range often suffer from various problems and imperfections, but I thought this was slightly better than many other places I've been in this price category.
