This appears to be an older Holiday Inn. Some areas seem to have had some updating and other areas seem very tired. The room was standard size for a Holiday Inn, King size bed with a night stand on each side of the bed, sofa sleeper, desk with chair (that sat too low for the desk height), the tall cabinet with three drawers and the insert where an old tube TV sat. There was a narrow patio outside the slider doors. We did not appreciate the HVAC unit that was uptight against the sofa sleeper. Because of that situation the air conditioner blew air right at us on the sofa and when we were in bed; rather than blowing toward the ceiling. The HVAC was noisy enough it masked the freeway and jet notice. There was no closet with doors, just the open cut into the wall. The bathroom had the sink with a small vanity, toilet and tub/shower. Complimentary breakfast buffet was in the restaurant adjacent to the check-in counter; it was what I would consider a “standard fare” nothing special by any means. The fitness center hours are 9 am to 10 pm, the late opening hour was not acceptable and the equipment did not appear to be very new. The fitness room was off the pool and arcade/billiards area which is the atrium. The Holiday Inn Amarillo I-40 is just an OK place, but nothing special or memorable.

We sincerely appreciate the feedback. We are always striving to better our hotel. Since you have left your comment we have ordered and installed air "diverters" to better distribute the air in the rooms. We have increased the Fitness Room hours to available 24 hours a day to better serve our guests. In addition we have ordered plasma tv's for all the rooms. They will be installed by 12/31/11 at the latest. We have also reviewed what we serve at breakfast. It was decided to alternate items that we serve to mix it up a little bit and give our guests a different and expanded selection. We pride ourselves on offering excellent customer service and helping to create great hotels that guests love. Thank you for the feedback.
