After all the horrible reviews I was terrified of staying at this motel. However we were slightly impressed. When we walked in we were greeted very nicely. I asked for a room with two beds but I had to choose between one bed and no smoking or two beds and a smoking room so we chose the 1 bed. I had read it was really smoky but other than the time we walked in when someone was smoking outside we never smelled smoke. The room was ok we found some melted chocolate on the floor that seemed to have been missed by the maid. The tub had some rust spots and in the morning we discovered the shower did not work. I did miss the breakfast that I usually get when I book onlline and the internet was down so I don't know if it still costs money or not.

However I wanted to give this place a good review because I was able to leave my kids and my husband at the motel and then go to the mall across the street and there are SEVERAL nice places to eat right there plus you are right next to the IMAX theater.
I just don't think it was 44 out of 46 but who knows

After having read the bad reviews about the Extended Stay America in Amarillo, Texas, I became concerned that I had made a big mistake in bidding for a room there. First, I will address the negatives that some travelers may find objectionable. The check-in desk reminds one of an airport car rental desk. The carpet has a somewhat tired look in the high traffic areas. There are three chairs, a desk, a table, and coffee for guests in the lobby area. The elevator for the three-story facility is located off the lobby. Everything in the lobby area appeared freshly cleaned.

Whitney greeted me immediately with a smile and a greeting. Since my reservation was prepaid, my room assignment took less than a minute. She assured me that my nonsmoking room was clean and ready to go. She said that if things were unsatisfactory, she would be happy to fix them. Later, she gave me directions and recommendations on places to eat and ask if my room was all right. There are several eating establishments in the immediate area. Upon returning from dinner, she inquired about where we had eaten and if it was satisfactory. Who could ask for more personal attention? One can walk across the street to an IMAX theater

Our room was on the third floor. It was spacious, equipped with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, and ample storage. The carpet was clean. The bathroom was large and spotlessly clean. The furniture was in good repair, but it was of the older, dark style. The bed was firm and the pillows were flatter than we liked, but we had a good night’s rest. If you are an aficionado of TV, the CRT will not meet your approval.

We were greeted as we left with a cheerful adieu and an invitation “Y’all come back.” Keep in mind that that this is not a 4* hotel. We had a good stay.

The room was filthy upon arrival. Nothing was done to fix the problem, no alternate room. Just getting clean towels or linens is an imposition on the staff. Inadequate venting by the maintenance staff while painting caused the alarms to go off in all rooms and the staff was upset that guests opened their doors which could cause the local fire department to come. The smell was coming into the rooms though there was no concern by the staff. Their only ammenities are satellite channels (very few channels) and internet (which is throttled or you must pay an additonal fee) but if there is a problem with either of these they are allowed to take days to repair.

This hotel is a disgrace to cleanliness. The carpets throughout the entry, hallway and room were filthy. The towels were thin and overly used. Instead of the two extremely thin bed pillows on the hotel bed my husband and I went back out to our vehicle and brought in our own.
We asked for non-smoking and the room reeked. The desk clerk said he could go up and spray the room. We said no, we would like another room. We got it, but with a smaller bed.. Quite frankly, the bed of my dog (and come to think of it, my dog) is cleaner. What a waste of our money.
