Stayed here one night for business and the staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and professional. Everyone I encountered that worked here was nice.
The room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable (King-Executive room) however the room had a terrible musty smell (thank goodness for the traveling candle). The wireless connection in the room was extremely slow so it was impossible to get work done.
The breakfast was mediocre..nothing to get excited about.
The elevator made me nervous everytime I got on because it made a terrible noise almost like it was having mechanical issues. I decided to take the stairs after going on it twice and hearing the same thing.
Don't let the indoor pool fool you---the water was FREEZING. The temperature outside was a balmy 94 degrees but even if you were drenched in sweat the water temperature would still take your breath away!

I recently spent 2 nights at the HIE in Athens and found the property to be OK but not great. It was disappointing to find that the pool was closed due to water filtration problems for the 2 days I was there. The room was clean and well maintained but the curtains had a nasty brown water stain along the bottom edge of the fabric. My bed was comfortable and my room on the back side of the property was very quiet. The young staff was friendly but they all seemed to be overly stressed out for some reason. Not a bad HIE experience but I've definitely had better.

Was in town to see family for a long weekend. Choose the HIE (Holiday Inn Express) due to the indoor pool and the free breakfast. Most of the HIE was nice and clean. Bed was not hard but not soft. I have had rock hard in high level hotels. Overall the rooms are good. The pool was great. Nice and coll but not cold. Hot tub temp was not scalding so the whole family could sit in it. At breakfast HIE has a pancake making machine which makes perfect pancakes. the rest of the food was fine (normal breakfast stuff) except for the EGGS which are terrible. The EGGS are pre-made, boxed in and heated and taste like powder eggs if such a thing still exist. If you skip the eggs and eat the fruit cereal, bacon and other stuff HIE is fine place to stay. Waffle house is just down the street.

Stopped overnight on the way to Florida. We like HI Express and this one is typical...maybe a little better than most. Clean and comfortable. Good breakfast too.
