We just got back from a weekend trip with 4 grandsons, ages 6-10. We took them to ride the train in Etowah, TN. and Athens is the closest decent city to stay in.
We were in a king suite, because that was the biggest they had to offer. Still, most hotels will not let you have more than 5 people to a suite. These people were terrific about accomodating us. The lady who booked us at the hotel said she had 4 children and knew what it was like trying to find places to stay.
The king bed was so comfortable. One boy slept on the chase lounge next to it, two on the fold out sofa, and one in a sleeping bag. The room was clean and comfortable, with TVs in the living room and bedroom. The table seated 8, with big comfortable chairs--enough room to eat and play games. The hotel decor was up to date and very inviting. The pool was small. but the boys enjoyed it--It had water, and that's all they cared about.
Breakfast was good--waffles, bagels, yogurt, fresh fruit, biscuits, gravy, eggs, bacon, ham, etc. It lasts from 6:00-10:00 every day.
The only problem was: the one lady working the breakfast area had trouble keeping up with heavy weekend demand. In fact, she may have "had it", because she did not show up at all on Sunday. When we came down for breakfast, she was not there, and someone not familiar with the setup was scurrying around trying to get things set up. There was no food and people were opting to eat elsewhere. A few minutes after we arrived, a woman named Misty came in. She had aparently been called awy from her children's baptism to work. My husband even got up and helped her fill napkins, spoons, etc, while she brought in the food.
We didn't catch the other woman's name, but thank you Misty and to the other woman for going above the call of duty to accomodate the mob of people who were clammoring for breakfast tjhat day. If I had been the owner/manager I would have been right in there helping too, since breakfast is a big PR push in the hotel industry.
