We walked in after driving for 12 hours to a bullet proof glass window. I asked the night clerk "why?" and this kid said "why not?". We paid for a king size, non smoking room with a fridge. We couldn't get the door opened. My husband had to use his weight to push it open. We soon figured out why. There was so much paint on the door to cover all the mold that the door became too thick for the door frame. There was a bright light shining onto the hotel from the parking lot (for security reasons?). This light was pointed right at our window. The one curtain (suppose to be two, to be pushed together) couldn't quite block the light out of the room.
The light switch has several coats of paint on it (from painting the mold on the door? The painters must has "missed").
The electrical cords from the lamps had electrical covers that were broken so they couldn't hold the cords. Therefore each cord (from each side of the bed) was stretched across the bed and then plugged in. The lamps shades were completely torn, almost shredded.
No refridgerator. I called the night clerk and told him that we rented a room with a refridgerator and he said "OK". I said "OK?, What does that mean?" He said "OK". I said I want a king sized room with a fridge and he said he had no more king sized room left and he had no idea if any other rooms had fridges or not. I hung up on him.
My husband then walked into the bathroom. There was mold and filth covering the tile (pics included). Paint covering the rod. The faucet was caulked in and almost falling away from the caulk and off the wall. The toilet seat wasn't cleaned (pics included). The light swtich cover had loose switches, a few missing screws and so dirthy, you don't want to touch it.
We then uncovered the bed and saw huge holes throughout the blanket and a cigerette burn on the sheet. The boxed spring was stained (urine?) (more pics included). The night stand of our non smoking room had a cigerette burn on it. The room smelled horrid.
I called the night clerk again and told him that I wanted to talk with manager and he said "No". I repeated myself and he said "no, he is home asleep and there is no reason to wake him". I told him yes there was. I told him everything that was wrong with the room and he said something like...Look, I can't inspect every room before I rent them out. He was not impressed. I told him I wanted my money back and he said that would be fine. We got our money back.
Since we booked via Super 8 800 number, they didn't want to give us back our money. They wanted us to pay, file a formal letter of complaint and then they would decide if we should get our money back. However, it seems we did get credited.
Do NOT go here. I think the past two reviews were from employees, because this was THE worst place we have ever stayed. The location was scarey. There was a Mexican restaurant next door (sharing the lot) that was closing for the night. Cars were screeching off, people were screaming and fighting and drunks littered the parking lot. The clientelle was questionable. We should have just driven on, but we were sooo tired.
